Job Summary: Operates a telephone console in order to answer, screen, and direct calls in a courteous and professional manner.
This entry level Communications Clerk position assists in relaying relevant information to the appropriate personnel and maintains specific information in hospital files. Answers pages and telephone calls by identifying department, routes callers, pages personnel, takes messages, and provides routine information to callers in a kind and respectful manner. Receives disaster information, notifies proper personnel and departments, pages emergency calls (e.g., Code 14, trauma alert, code white, fire alerts), and signals appropriate alerts in order to ensure timely and efficient responses to all emergency situations.
Receives calls from team members and guests for assistance with patient and guest needs (5 Star line). Use call trees to alert appropriate leaders for request fulfillment. Verifies room numbers in an effort toward ensuring accurate and punctual delivery of patients# newspapers, flowers, and mail. Upholds all requirements for patient privacy as necessary.
Maintains files of telephone numbers for hospital personnel, departments, and other area hospitals in order to provide a quality communications network and promote the provision of high quality services by the department. Education: High School or equivalent####17511
