Communications Associates have experience in strategic communications, writing and editing, internal communications, and/or stakeholder outreach. They are passionate about homeland security or emergency management. Communications Associates will work on dynamic teams to support mission-critical projects in the Washington, DC and northern Virginia area.

Candidates want to perform on fast-paced projects, act as liaisons between information technologists and stakeholders, and contribute to strategic company initiatives. They write a diverse set of communications materials (federal government website content, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, trainings, etc.) to connect with stakeholders across many communications channels. Bachelor's Degree required in communications, marketing, public relations, English, business, or related field
1-4 years of experience writing communications materials, preferably for Government stakeholders
Interest in strategizing and writing a diverse set of outreach communications materials (federal government website content, fact sheets, newsletters, presentations, trainings, etc.)
Ability to act as a liaison to identify and coordinate with subject matter experts to bridge the gap and translate complex information to messages easily understood by general public, lay audiences and stakeholders
Ability to post web content on internal or external websites, and experience using collaboration tools and/or web content management systems (e.g. Microsoft SharePoint, Drupal, or basic HTML)
Strong interest in communications and consulting
Excellent written and oral communications skills (presentation skills, meeting facilitation, etc.)
US Citizenship Only (no dual citizenship) and ability to obtain a security clearance
Experience reviewing and/or editing communications materials
Interest in technical writing or technical editing, and/or knowledge of the federal government's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) (e.g. configuration management, requirements management, or requirements gathering and management tools)
Interest in homeland security, emergency management, risk communications, disaster mitigation, disaster recovery, disaster response, resiliency, and/or geographic information systems
Experience in a consulting firm
Active security clearance or suitability with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) or its component agencies
Knowledge of Section 508 compliance
Experience using the entire Microsoft Office Suite
