The mission of the Department of English is to advance the study and teaching of literature, language, and writing. To accomplish this mission, the Department will provide the basis for a strong liberal arts education focused on critical literacy, critical thinking, and culturally informed interpretive skills. The Department is committed to maintain comprehensive and interdisciplinary English studies curricula for undergraduate majors and graduate students.

Position Summary

With limited supervision, the Communications and Social Media Coordinator is responsible for internal and external communications, branding, and marketing strategies for the Department of English. This is a full-time Administrative Professional position reporting to the Chair of the Department of English.

Primary duties include independent creation, management and promotion of communication content across media platforms including print and digital materials; multimedia including web, social media, digital signs and video production; and other public relations and marketing projects across constituencies. Utilizes knowledge of, and adherence to, University policies, systems and branding guidelines in creation of all communication products.

Required Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.

Exceptionally strong writing and editing skills across platforms using varied formats communicating with diverse populations and constituencies.

Experience developing and managing content for print and online media, including website development and maintenance.

Proven strength in social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube.

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments, establish priorities and meet deadlines.

Experience designing promotional materials in print and digital platforms.

Willingness and ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to provide coverage and support for English department events. Some local travel will be required.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Professional, Wordpress, HTML and CSS.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Master's degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field.

Three years of administrative experience coordinating communication efforts for an organization or academic department.

Knowledge of Colorado State University's communication requirements and/or digital best practices guidelines.

Evidence of professional independence, enthusiasm, creativity and innovation.
