At IDB Invest, the Communications Team is mandated to manage a cohesive multistakeholder communication strategy that enhances IDB Invest capacity to fulfill its mandate. The team supports its leadership to define the mission and effectively communicate with prospective clients, investors, and stakeholders. Core to the team success is building brand awareness, enhancing market recognition, leveraging knowledge and facilitating partnerships to position IDB Invest as the partner of choice for the private sector in Latin America and the Caribbean.

IDB Invest is interested in contracting the services of a Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist to join IDB Invest Communications Team in the design and execution of corporate communication activities. The Communications and Digital Marketing Specialist will manage IDB Invest's website and will be responsible for producing and curating content central to both digital marketing and corporate communication activities.

He/She will be responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating a broad range of communication and digital marketing solutions that help promote IDB Invest brand. This includes promoting knowledge products, thought leadership activities and events. Candidates should have exceptional copywriting skills in both, English and Spanish. Experience in corporate communications, digital marketing and account management are required.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success developing engaging content, geared to corporate communication and marketing activities and has a solid understanding of data analytics.

He/she values innovation and knowledge and cares about people's lives, social and environmental issues, and want to use communication to make a difference in the development of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Reporting Lines & Interactions

The position will report directly to the Head of Communications, and work closely with other members of IDB Invest Communications Team.

Main Responsibilities

Digital:

  • Manage the corporate website and curate all digital content ensuring the site's overall accuracy, consistency and quality.

  • Serve as focal point for digital content, including formatting, functionality, user experience.

  • Curate knowledge dissemination activities for internal and external campaigns.

  • Coordinate the production of digital products such a video, blogs, podcasts etc.

  • Ensure a strong, accurate and current digital presence.

  • Drive year-round engagement of media on IDB Invest digital platforms.

  • Analyze data and prepare analytics reports for leadership.

  • Ensure optimal search-engine optimization.

  • Develop high-quality digital strategy materials, including creative content ideas, social media content and marketing collateral.

Corporate:

  • Develop and implement content strategies for assigned IDB Invest departments.

  • Write & produce a broad range of corporate communications products such as byline articles, blogs, speeches, talking points, videos, presentations to support leadership.

  • Develop content for press conferences, interviews, press kits and manages the corporate's general in-box.

  • Support public relations activities linked to corporate reputation and crisis management.

  • Prepare media analysis report for leadership.

  • Coordinate translation work in various languages to ensure quality.

  • Provide strategic and tactical support to plan, develop and implement corporate communications programs.

Editorial:

  • Reorganize author-supplied text to render improved flow of ideas.

  • Write original content to explain IDB Invest work.

  • Point out documents factual inconsistencies and suggest solutions.

  • Draft, revise, proofread, and edit contents and texts for different purposes (publications, translations, presentations, e-newsletter, etc.).

The successful candidate will be assessed on:

  • Ability to proactively manage IDB Invest website and content via digital marketing tactics (social, email, newsletters, partners).

  • Ability to generate original and compelling content to support IDB Invest corporate communication needs across platforms.

  • Strategic and tactical expertise to deliver content that is on-brand and data-driven.

Preferred Requirements and Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree with eight 8 or more years of professional experience or master's degree with 3-5 years professional experience in digital marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, corporate communications and/or external relations.

  • Excellent written communication skills in English and Spanish.

  • Proven ability to produce original content and copy edit complex work developed by peers.

  • Understanding and practical knowledge of both mainstream and social media.

  • Good knowledge of digital marketing tools (such as Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud or equivalent platforms) as well as experience using media monitoring tools.

  • Quick learner with excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Good knowledge of data analytics.

  • Team player with the ability to work independently.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Strategic, financial and/or corporate communications experience.

  • Experience managing multiple accounts.

  • Experience with crisis communications/issues management desirable.

  • Private sector and financial institutions experience desirable.

  • Knowledge of best practices for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and online lead development strategies desirable.

  • Languages: Native and/or proficient-level oral and written English and Spanish required.

Opportunity Summary

Type of contract: Consultant Full Time (CNS).

Length of contract: 24 months.

Starting date: 09/16/2019

Location: IBD Invest's Headquarters. Washington DC. U.S.A.

Responsible person: Communications and Marketing Lead Officer.

Requirements:
You must be a citizen of one of the IDB's 48 member countries and have no family members currently working at the IDB Group.

Payment and Conditions: Compensation will be determined in accordance with IDB Invest's policies and procedures. The IDB Invest, pursuant to applicable policies, may contribute toward travel and moving expenses.

Visa and Work Permit: The IDB Invest, pursuant to applicable policies, may submit a visa request to the applicable immigration authorities; however, the granting of the visa is at the discretion of the immigration authorities. Notwithstanding, it is the responsibility of the candidate to obtain the necessary visa or work permits required by the authorities of the country (ies) in which the services will be rendered to the IDB Invest. If a candidate cannot obtain a visa or work permit to render services to the IDB Invest the contractual offer will be rescinded.

Consanguinity: Pursuant to applicable IDB Invest regulations, candidates with relatives (including the fourth degree of consanguinity and the second degree of affinity, including spouse) working for the IDB Invest and the Bank as staff members, or Complementary Workforce or as contractors, will not be eligible to provide services for the IDB Invest.

How you'll contribute: To support this work, the Urban Institute is seeking an outreach communications specialist to support the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy, with a focus on engaging key external audiences. Working closely with senior researchers and development and communications experts, the outreach communications specialist will help implement strategic outreach plans, maintain a database of contacts—primarily philanthropy, foundations, nonprofits, and policymakers—and draft targeted communications to engage them. The outreach communications specialist will also support the organization's broader engagement efforts and assist in tracking and measuring engagement of key audiences through Urban's analytics platforms. The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with strong writing and proofreading skills; attention to detail and some prior experience implementing communications campaigns in a nonprofit, political, or public policy setting. This position reports to the email outreach manager of External Affairs and works closely with the Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy. Responsibilities: * Help increase the visibility and impact of the Urban Institute's Center on Nonprofits and Philanthropy and its researchers by executing strategic communications plans – incorporating direct contact, digital channels, social and traditional media, databases and other platforms – tailored to key audiences * Help shape and manage work plans and track workflows, deadlines, and milestones on CNP projects * Coordinate cross-team collaborations of researchers, policy analysts, and communications staff * Work with the email outreach manager to draft communications, mainly email copy, and execute CNP outreach campaigns * Support additional outreach projects and data cleanup/enrichment projects that are key to engagement efforts across the organization * Help grow a Salesforce database of contacts in the philanthropic sector, organize and tag contacts by interest area, and update contact information regularly * Apply best practices of email design and execution to refine practices and audience segmentation * Track metrics to measure performance and report on progress toward department and organizational goals. * Oversee the vice president of CNP's social media presence (with the goal of expanding beyond Twitter), while building and tracking key metrics * Staff the vice president of CNP, as necessary, for events and appearances with a significant communications component. * Coordinate and support public speaking engagements, media appearances, social media presence, and writing projects * Oversee the administration of a widely distributed monthly newsletter * Other administrative duties as necessary related to external engagement, occasionally standing-in for the special assistant of CNP.
