The Communications Analyst must be an expert communicator who can listen to others and write very well to communicate their position on various topics to include:
Having the ability to do investigative research and analysis in a large project environment to determine facts with significant levels of detail.
Having the ability to write in multiple styles to represent various stakeholder positions including the CEO, the Project Manager and other senior individuals.
Write Board updates on a large technology project's progress and issues
Incorporate political dynamics into executive-level progress reports
Anticipate the implications of written statements to Board members from diverse backgrounds and refine messages to communicate effectively to them
Mitigate potential negative reactions through proactive updates
Work with the Project Manager and CIO to finalize Board and Executive-level communications, adapting to their style
Develop Steering Committee reports, minutes, and materials appropriate to their oversight role
Define and execute communications processes and procedures to acceptable project standards through development and performance on strategies and plans. Works well across many dimensions including:
Lead the development of the project communication mechanisms including the project "communications center" and website.
Having the ability to meet publication deadlines and plan appropriate materials for multiple media including: PowerPoint presentation, Newsletter article, Web site content, Issue Memos, Status Reports, Project Marketing Campaigns, Style Guides, Project Brand, etc.
Document methods in processes and procedures to help the project office become more consistent in application of communication performance areas.
Lead the development and execution of project marketing campaigns to achieve project communication goals and objectives.
Able to set and achieve project communication goals and objectives.
8+ years of professional experience in business and/or information technology
6+ years of experience performing hands-on communications management for large technology implementation projects or organizational change initiatives
4+ years of experience developing and executing formal Communications Management Plans
Experience working within a formal Project Office, PMO, or equivalent environment
4+ years of experience using formal communications management tools (e.g., project websites, on-line "newsletters", multi-media presentations/ communication vehicles, formal "communications centers", "webinars", etc.)
4+ years of experience with marketing project progress toward achieving business value with customers
2+ years of experience in creating agenda material for Boards of Directors or equivalent Commissions in State or Federal government
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Communications or related discipline.
Master's degree preferred.
