Thisposition will supervise the part-time Coordinator of Communications.

The University of Colorado Denver l Anschutz Medical Campusis seeking applications for a Director of Communications and Marketing. This full-time,University Staff (non-classified) position serves as the school's communicationsand marketing director. This positionwill collaborate with the dean, school leadership and the campus institutionaloffices of communication and advancement. The Director is responsible forleading and directing all aspects of communication and marketing for the SDM toinclude internal and external communications, media relations, increasingpublic and private support for and awareness of the school, its mission andvision, enrollment marketing for its programs, and lead all marketing effortsfor the clinical and academic enterprise. This position reports to the Dean, and works closely with the school's associatedeans, department chairs, faculty, and other directors in support of theteaching, research, clinical and service missions of the SDM and the universityas well as represent the SDM in all matters on campus and committees.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Communication

  • Manage the dean's executive communication needsincluding briefings, speech and presentation development, and internalcommuniqus.

  • Serve as editor of and writer for the semiannualalumni magazine; write press releases, articles, speeches, brochures, contentfor social media and other forms of electronic media. Creation of videos for use in patientcommunication and SDM website.

  • Responsible for SDM's web content managementincluding authoring, collaboration and administration. Management includes enabling and monitoringthe output of multiple author editing and participation.

  • In collaboration with the University Office ofCommunications, define the school's strategic communication plan to increaseawareness of and support for the school, its mission and programs.

  • Ensure that all external communicationreflecting the school is presented in a consistent and compelling format.

  • Ensure positive and proactive public and mediacoverage of the school and its programs, including responsibility fordeveloping news releases, media advisories, legislative relations, and publicrelations strategies.

  • In coordination with clinical operations,oversee clinical marketing plans, programs and budgets.

  • Advise clinical operations unit to disseminatecompliant, friendly, and accurate communications to faculty, volunteer faculty,part-time faculty, staff, students, residents, patients, and referringagencies.

  • Monitor unified clinical brand, CU DentalClinics, and provide key messaging, print collateral, web, social media, andpatient communications oversight.

  • Manage, design, and monitor SDMwebsite to engage potential students, faculty, and patients.

  • Ability to create and design effective and unique webpages to engage potential students, faculty and patients, and to ensure dissemination of accurate and up-to-date information to current faculty, students, and staff.

  • Track Google Analytics,telephone traffic, and social media properties to gauge efficacy for bothpatient and student recruitment efforts.

  • In coordination with student affairs, overseeenrollment marketing plans, programs and budgets.

  • Manage external publications, includingestablishing editorial and design plans for newsletters, magazines, print andelectronic collateral.

  • Set, monitor and manage performance goals andprojects of communication consultant(s).

  • Advisethe Dean and leadership on matters of internal and crisis communication and management.

  • Increase awareness of and engagementwith the school's identity among primary constituency groups, includingfaculty, staff, students, alumni, patients etc.

Marketing

  • In collaboration with the dean, associate deans,sr. directors, program directors and directors, develop a coherent marketingplan for promoting the SDM predoctoral and advanced dental education academicprograms.

  • In collaboration with the dean, associate deans,sr. directors, program directors and directors, develop a coherent marketingplan for promoting the SDM clinical program.

External Relations

  • In collaboration with the office of advancement,support the school's strategic development plan including messaging for cultivation,solicitation, and stewardship of philanthropic support provided to the schooland its program.

  • Ensure that effective and compelling casestatements and development plans reflect the school's philanthropic prioritiesand needs.

  • Manage school's involvement in institutionalalumni and annual programs including communication, event management, andannual giving solicitations.

  • Participate in school's special events includingcommunication and marketing plans, sponsorships opportunities and constituentrelations.

  • Increase support and awareness of philanthropicopportunities among internal constituency groups including faculty, staff,students, etc.

Administration and Service

  • Serve as a point of contact for faculty, staffand students requiring access to marketing, communication and other externalaffairs resources.

  • Manage the school's marketing and communicationbudgets.

  • Represent the dean and school on institutionalcommittees, taskforces and workgroups, particularly in the areas of marketingand communication.

  • Serve on school-level committees, taskforces andworkgroups, particularly in the areas of advancement and communication.

PLEASE NOTE: Candidateswill be responsible for travel expenses related to the interview process andany relocation expenses, if applicable.

Salary and Benefits:

Hiring salary range has been established at $83,587 $140,427and is commensurate will skills and experience. Thesalary offered is usually the minimum listed, however, a salary above theminimum may be offered for some hard to fill positions. This position is not eligiblefor overtime compensation.
