Description:

The Clerk I is responsible for answering phones, directing calls, contacting providers, overhead announcements, relaying non-clinical and clinical codes, and distributing emergency notifications for Emergency Management.

Answer and transfer incoming and outgoing calls promptly in a professional, friendly, and polite manner.

Provide information to patients, family members, physicians, and colleagues.

Able to communicate verbally and written.

Must effectively send, receive, and respond to information ensuring a high level of patient care and

services.

Provide Physician referral services for callers seeking new Physicians.

Provide directory information and other assistance regarding staff, services, physicians and department hours.

Execute all standard operating procedures for emergency medical codes

and mass emergency notifications.

Able to handle all emergency situations when working alone. Demonstrate a commitment to customer services and excellence.

Any other duties assigned by Telecommunications Leadership.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

The ability to learn call center skills.

Proficient typing skills.

Completion of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.

The mental/visual/auditory ability to quickly respond to callers and to attend to video screens, panic and fire alarms panels, monitors and small figures.

Interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with all department employees and all levels of hospital personnel and to communicate courteously with all types of callers.
