Join an expanding team working across our Global Risk Surveillance Program. As part of this initiative, we are looking for an experienced professional who can develop, enhance and conduct surveillance for the firm's Commodity Markets and Finance business.
This individual will be responsible for working with our Americas Head of Risk Surveillance and Global Commodities Surveillance Lead to monitor for potential market manipulation and misconduct, and the misuse of electronic communications.
As an Associate Director in our Houston office, you will oversee our commodities surveillance program, conduct deep dive investigations and regular reviews of non-exchange based (OTC) activities, and act as an escalation point for junior colleagues. You will also ensure investigations are adequately documented and followed through to resolution in a timely manner, and work with local Compliance staff to determine an appropriate and coordinated level of surveillance.
Part of this role entails leading efforts to identify gaps and weaknesses in our program, contributing to the design, development and implementation of surveillance solutions, and assisting with regulatory and other requests for information, including trade reconstruction efforts. You will also perform team quality assurance reviews.
You will work closely with the regional and product leads to ensure consistency across the global framework and operations. This is an opportunity to shape the vision and strategy of the Risk Surveillance function, through identifying and driving out change initiatives to improve the services provided. It will enable you to establish working relationships across various stakeholders, including local and regional advisory Compliance staff, Technology and the business.
This role requires a bachelor's degree and 10+ years of relevant experience in a commodities business, compliance or surveillance role. Applicants must possess strong knowledge of, and expertise in, commodity and energy OTC markets, their operation and the potential for manipulation across business processes, flows, booking methodologies and client interactions.
You should be familiar with trading systems, their data structures and interfaces and understand the role of Compliance within the banking and financial services industry. In addition, you should be able to demonstrate a high proficiency in data manipulation and analysis, along with the ability to proactively identify and analyze problems and propose viable solutions.
