Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a proficient Commodity Manager for their Consumer Products Group to develop, implement, and maintain commodity strategies that support the company's business objectives. The Commodity Manager will manage engineered commodities as well as single sourcing requests from engineering and operations. They will also evaluate and recommend vendors to the business unit while managing the ongoing relationship with key suppliers. The candidate must be able to be based in Carthage, MO, Georgetown, KY, Spring Hill, FL., or El Paso, Tx.
Engineering or Business Degree with Industrial Experience
Demonstrated knowledge of metal fabrication processes and equipment including stamping with progressive tooling, roll forming including inline piercing operations, metal forming, both CNC automated and manual break press operations, CNC tube bending, CNC laser cutting, CNC punching, tube mill operations, robotic welding, and powder coating.
Experience sourcing in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan
Knowledge level to advise engineering team at a high level on cost comparison of preliminary designs.
5-7 Years Experience
Highly proficient analytical and technical skills in MS Office Suite (especially Excel).
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal & written) required.
Proven track record interfacing and presenting to customers is a must.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to travel up to 30%
Not required but the below experience would be considered a plus:
Experience sourcing in other LCC
Experience with the sourcing of composite materials
Knowledge of joining metals without welding or fasteners
Experience with sourcing aluminum and high strength alloys
Work independently between internal functional groups and external suppliers.
Rationalize the supplier base through the solicitation of competitive bids. Put together competitive RFQ's, analyze received quotations, select or recommend new suppliers.
Conduct analyses of market conditions and trends and use this information to predict commodity pricing and availability.
Research potential vendors and compare their products, prices, and services.
Develop and implement commodity strategies to create an efficient supply chain and reduce commodity purchase costs.
Able to discuss and agree to the contract terms with suppliers. Ensure the correct terms of business references are used on orders.
Analyse the effect that sourcing and supply decisions have on total business costs (internal and the supply chain). Ability to evaluate different supply route options e.g. from single part to build package to determine optimum cost route using appropriate evaluation tools. transactions
Analyse and implement innovative supply opportunities that deliver best total cost position part, freight, cost of quality, and inventory
Can effectively negotiate in all situations with internal customers and suppliers, creating win/win situations.
Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues
Provide goods & services projections to key suppliers to ensure product availability.
Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards and confidentiality.
Participation on cross functional teams to address and resolve problems.
Support goals and objectives as established by business unit management.
