Commodity Business Manager Packaging/BTP
Commodity Business Manager deliverable global commodity strategy development and socialization, supplier negotiations, supply chain planning and execution, data based decision making, operations project planning, Low Cost Region transition of operations, packaging/logistics expertise, operations project planning, NPI issue resolution.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
recommendations for new supplier selection & evaluation as part of Pilot Operations
Define and Implement Global Commodity Strategy for all of packaging: Boxes, Liners, Labels
Ability to drive a complicated Project plan Transition to Low Cost Region
Single point of contact for all supplier related activities tied to cost, quality and OTD for all related commodities
Forms and leads cross-functional teams (comprised of Supply Chain, Operations and other members as required) to define Low cost sourcing strategies and sourcing plans for commodities under instrumentation

Knowledge and skills:
Develops, aligns and implements commodity strategies.
Drives multiyear cost reduction agreements aligned with corporate goals
Manages quarterly improvement of supply base around key metrics (Cost/Quality/Delivery)
Ability to understand Cepheid's needs around packaging and correctly translate the needs and roadmap to the supply base.
Experience/Exposure to Medical Device Industry & Logistics business process
Negotiates and manages the maintenance of agreements with suppliers that provide the structure for all business relationships between Cepheid and the supply base.
Engages with the PLC process to ensure alignment with the commodity strategies.
Directs new supplier introduction and/or disengagement requirements to/from the strategic supply base.
Develops, presents and executes on yearly cost reduction targets for managed categories
Leverages software tools, perform regular cost rollups and analyze product cost performance and manufacturing cost models to drive corrective action as required to achieve product cost targets, and manage the product cost roadmap prior to production release.
Fundamental understanding of should-cost or cost allocation & recognizes opportunities to improve product design for cost/quality/delivery by early supplier involvement.
Work collaboratively with supply chain and engineering stakeholders; develop supplier selection process for piece parts or outsourced assemblies and identify supply chain risks supporting sourcing decisions.
Fundamental understanding of manufacturing methods and integration planning for outsourced manufacturing
Responsible for resolving discrepancies between cost targets and quoted costs, creates and delivers presentations to program executives and CFT stakeholders
Provides feedback to engineering on DFx (cost, manufacturability), and manages resources to drive the assessment
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (optional):
Direct or related industry technical program management experience
Direct or related commodity management experience
Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Power Point, Agile, and SAP
Ability to read and interpret product Bill of Materials (BOM's)
Must be a self-starter and be able to operate independent of day to day supervision
Direct experience leading cross-functional teams
Self-starter with the ability to adapt, critical thinking skills, and problem solve under pressure
Extensive Contract/Supply Agreement Negotiations
Knowledge in Packaging commodities (boxes, liners, labels) a plus
Previous experience transitioning to low cost region a plus
