Building commissioning is a quality assurance process that involves the review, observation, testing, and optimization of building systems: heating, ventilating, air conditioning, plumbing, domestic hot water, electrical, backup power, envelope, audio-visual, communication, fire suppression, fire alarm, etc. The commissioning engineer intern will support design review, construction quality assurance, testing, issue investigation, troubleshooting, analysis, and reporting work with engineering professionals in support of our clients.

Work closely with the commissioning teams at our Arlington office and at the project sites in the DMV region.
Function as a member of project team and support various tasks.
Learn and understand building energy systems and various aspects of the design and construction process.
Learn and contribute to the commissioning process for new construction.
Areas of Focus:
Commissioning quality assurance for new construction and renovation projects.
Energy Efficiency audits and studies.
M/E/P Engineering design review, supporting studies, modeling, and field work.
Critical Environments supporting our museum, healthcare, data center, and laboratory clients.
Building Envelope analysis and field review of building enclosure systems.
Currently pursuing a degree in an ABET-accredited engineering program.
Successfully completed at least one course in thermodynamics or heat transfer.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Basic proficiency using Microsoft tools including MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Passion about the built environment, sustainability, systems thinking, and making things work better.
