The Security Officer position is a vital role in our organization. The officer will provide armed security for the school staff, students, buildings and property through patrol of the building(s) and building perimeters (including parking lots) to prevent unauthorized visitors or property damage and to provide for general building security and related work as required. Responsibilities:
Be alert to suspicious activity near a facility.
Protect the security of the facility from external threats.
Maintain a safe and secure environment for employees and customers. Respond quickly to emergencies.
Participates in security inspections and assessments of school facilities
Makes recommendations to correct identified security issues.
Serve as liaison with police, fire and other municipal departments to ensure services in order to provide adequate security and safety. Use computer applications and automated systems to perform work duties.
Education- High School graduate of GED.
Experience: Previous law enforcement or comparable military experience
Other requirements: Successful completion of criminal and child maltreatment background checks. Must have CSSO license to be hired. Completion of required training and attainment/renewal of Commissioned School Security Officer license is required every two years. Must furnish own firearm and ammunition that meets approved parameters set by the District Security Coordinator.
