GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Commercial Underwriting Processor will review and obtain required and supporting information for a centralized underwriting function for credit requests to be secured by 1-4 family investment purpose real estate. This position will follow loan policy and procedural guidelines related to the loan type and support customer service by processing all credit requests in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Answer incoming questions regarding credit requests in general or specific to a borrower's loan in process. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
2.Process credit requests received from lending staff, which may include, but is not limited to, obtaining various types of verifications, pulling credit reports, ordering appraisals, ordering title work, pulling flood certificates, preparing credit files for the underwriters, and clearing underwriting conditions. This duty is performed daily, about 35% of the time.
3.Communicate with lending staff, customers, real estate agents, appraisers, and title companies as needed to obtain information necessary for underwriting process. This duty is performed daily, about 25% of the time.
4.Maintain an accurate accounting of exceptions, such as underwriting guidelines, pricing, fees and loan policy. Compile month end reports. This duty is performed weekly, about 15% of the time.
5.Perform research on bank systems such as Bankway and OnBase. This duty is performed weekly, about 5% of the time.
6.Communicate deficiencies to the loan officer. This duty is performed daily, about 5% of the time.
7.Complete required BSA/AML training and other compliance training as assigned. This duty is performed quarterly, about 5% of the time.
8.The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner. This duty is performed daily.
9.Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Broad knowledge of such fields as accounting, marketing, business administration, finance, etc. Equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 0 to 6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, general public and other employees of the organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS
Ability to utilize common sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral or diagrammed instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving several known variables in situations of a routine nature.

SOFTWARE SKILLS REQUIRED
Intermediate: 10-Key, Alphanumeric Data Entry, Word Processing/Typing
