The Commercial Sales Manager is responsible for driving the commercial sales within their AutoZone location. The CSM develops and maintains positive relationships with commercial customers by managing the acquisition and delivery of products, providing ongoing customer service, and maintaining expert knowledge on parts and inventory. The CSM exceeds customer's expectation by delivering WOW! Customer Service to all AZ Commercial accounts by Living the Pledge everyday.


  • Achieve growth and hit sales targets by successfully maintaining and developing commercial sales. Develop new accounts through face to face and telephone contact with potential customers

  • Act as the primary contact for commercial customers; Actively maintain open lines of communication between AutoZone and commercial customers

  • Ensure efficient delivery of products by planning delivery routes and managing drivers. Ensures appropriate delivery documentation is generated for each delivery

  • Act as a consultative partner to commercial customers by maintaining expert knowledge on automotive parts and industry; Conduct research to guarantee the customer is offered the 'right part for the right price'

  • Maintain records and billing for commercial accounts; processes returns and reconciles accounts

  • Visits commercial accounts and ensures accounts are serviced and deliveries are made as promised. Contribute to the AutoZone 'one-team' environment by assisting customers and AutoZoners with various aspects of the business

  • Build and maintain strong relationship with management team. Assists with training and developing drivers, commercial specialist, and other AutoZoners as directed by the SM or DM

  • Maintains a safe working environment while ensuring AutoZoners are implementing those practices including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)

  • Follows proper accident and claim procedures. Complies with safe driving rules and procedures and ensures all Commercial Zoners have approved driver status

  • Properly maintains vehicle(s) and takes the necessary steps to report vehicle maintenance issues.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Basic knowledge of automotive parts is required

  • Effective leader with excellent communication skills, strong decision making abilities, and excellent selling skills

  • Ability to lift, load, and deliver merchandise

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the business needs, including holidays, evenings and weekend shifts

Position Overview Supervises and coordinates the sale of Ash Grove cement within the assigned region so as to optimize sales, promotion and customer service. Provides leadership and direction for all sales personnel in the assigned region. Works regularly with confidential information requiring appropriate discretion. Uses independent judgment in resolving unusual problems. Works from general policies and objectives under the direction of the Vice President - Sales. Consults with supervisor when clarification or interpretation of organization policy is needed. Exercises direct supervision over all sales personnel in the assigned region. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) * Establishes, communicates and assigns job responsibilities, goals and performance standards for employees within supervisory responsibility. * Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases and promotions. * Affects job performance through motivation, establishing goals and providing feedback. * Plans and manages the sales of Ash Grove cement marketed in the assigned region to maximize profitability and increase market share. * Maintains personal contact with key accounts. Participates in hunting and fishing trips as well as other forms of entertainment for customers. * Participates in defining sales territories, changes in marketing policy, promotions and product revisions. * Approves and controls sales expenditures in the assigned region to ensure efficient use of all travel and entertainment expenses. * Prepares and revises sales forecasts as needed. * Maintains awareness of current industry trends and practices by attending professional association meetings, seminars and educational workshops. * Maintains contact with state and local government officials, industry associates and/or other individuals who may provide information regarding promotional developments and opportunities for Ash Grove products in the marketplace. * Coordinates with Vice President - Sales as requested on pricing strategy and prepares price quotation bids for direct work involving cement usage. Prepares direct work sales agreements as assigned. * Collaborates with other members of the company to improve marketing, pricing, promotion, customer service, credit and delivery of Ash Grove products. * Supervises the promotion of cement and concrete products by sales and technical service personnel in the assigned region. Assists sales personnel with promotion specifically oriented to engineers, architects, owners, various government entities, etc. * Works with Technical Services Manager on a regular basis to resolve customer complaints and other customer service issues. * Appraises and analyzes opportunities, competitive conditions and competitive products in assigned region. Communicates to Vice President - Sales regarding these issues. * Develops and maintains sales information and statistics pertaining to the assigned sales territory including future and current projects, technical information, sales aids and equipment information. * Prepares assigned reports for the Vice President - Sales regarding any requested area of sales activity in the assigned territory.
