The Commercial Relationship Manager III is primarily responsible for making and servicing a wide variety of business and individual loans, both secured and unsecured, which are complex in nature. Handles larger, more profitable customer relationships within the department. Provides subordinate officers with functional guidance.


  • Monitors and manages existing credit relationships which includes note renewals, reviewing and detailed analysis of current financial statements and collateral valuations, credit analysis, cash flow analysis, delinquency reporting, documenting exceptions, and covenant monitoring; compiles reports necessary to monitor asset and credit quality and compliance with policy/regulation.

  • Develops new business through identifying and calling on existing or prospective customers; promotes and cross-sell Bank's services; works with Bank operation areas to ensure that quality service is provided.

  • Negotiates loan proposals; analyzes and evaluates credit requests and writes loan commitments; recommends appropriate credit grade; makes oral presentation to loan committee; implements approval or declination action.

  • Facilitates resolution of operational problems for customer across divisional lines.

  • Serves as the primary linkage for all financial services to the individual client with the Bank (i.e., Treasury Services, International, Trust, and Cash Vault).

  • Researches overdrafts and outgoing wire transfers and determines appropriate action; implements approval or denial action.

  • Participates in community and professional activities in order to enhance Bank's image and expand personal network of business contacts for development of new business.


  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of commercial lending practices and loan documentation, and loan servicing requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Demonstrated capacity to sell products/services within the financial services industry

  • Advanced understanding of credit underwriting, documentation, loan policy, and regulations

  • Advanced knowledge of financial analysis including ratio and trend analysis and projections

  • Specialized knowledge of specific markets in order to serve defined territories

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to prepare and deliver persuasive oral and written reports and presentations

  • Good PC skills including knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelors Degree and 5-7 years experience in a commercial lending environment or 11-13 years equivalent experience.
