This role is responsible for leading the daily onsite work of others, installing refrigerant pipe, and the installation of commercial HVAC/R equipment. This Commercial Refrigeration Installer III assigns daily tasks, understands the construction schedule and labor needs, interprets blueprints, and plans for tools, equipment, and materials. This position performs tasks assigned to level II installers and trains level I installers.

Requirements+

  • Install pipe associated with hydronic systems, refrigeration systems, and heat pumps using extensive knowledge of HVAC/R systems. With the appropriate certifications, starts up and adjusts associated equipment.

  • Plan daily work for others, coordinates vendor orders, communicates labor requirements to all parties, and coordinates with subcontractors.

  • Communicate with the Project Manager and General Contractor to understand the budget and timeline.

  • Participate in meetings starting with the takeoff meeting to learn about the job, report progress to ensure all stakeholders are informed, share changes with onsite team, and complete a job briefing with leadership at the conclusion of the job.

  • Utilize in-depth knowledge of installing heating and refrigerant systems to diagnosis issues and troubleshoot issues to resolutions.

  • Interpret blueprints and drawings to determine exact specifications and how the system will be installed, communicate with leaders or Engineering as needed to adjust drawings.

  • Demonstrate mastery of sizing system loads and shares knowledge with others.

  • Responsible to perform installation and assembly duties that range from interpreting blueprints, to troubleshooting mechanical issues, to selecting materials matching the job specifications, to ensuring codes are met, to testing systems, and operating appropriate tools to complete the installation.

  • Provide end of job briefing to leadership

  • Understand all building and plumbing code requirements that associate with the job, ensure each standard is met. Reminds others of standards and codes as needed.

  • Trains and mentor level I and level II installers to ensure knowledge sharing. When a work assignment conflicts, prioritize workload of others.

  • Set up inspections and walk throughs with inspectors. Follows safety policies and immediately reports safety incidents. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

  • Ensures assigned tools and equipment are properly maintained following preventive maintenance guidelines.

  • Performs other duties as assigned. These duties may include backing up other departments and/or operating forklifts or construction lifts following the appropriate training.

Qualifications:

  • Four plus years of similar experience and required licenses include EPA Universal, VT Type S (P1 or P2) Plumbing License (or higher), VT Natural Gas and VT Propane licenses. Preferred licenses NH Gas Installer license, and manufacturing factory training associated heat pump and refrigeration systems.

  • High school diploma or GED diploma required and/or equivalent education and experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of refrigeration and heating systems, ability to troubleshoot issues, and strong ability to interpret blueprint and job specifications.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to train others.

  • Good computer skills, prior experience navigating Procore preferred.

  • Valid driver's license required and able to travel to NY, NH, and VT.

  • OSHA 10 certification is a plus or the ability to complete the certification within 14 days from the hire date.

  • Must be familiar with jobsite safety policies and role model safety to others.

  • Works quickly and accurately under pressure and can handle considerable stress.

  • Reliable, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as required (typically this position works Monday to Friday 8 hours a day).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop throughout shift.

  • Frequently lifting or moving items up to 75 pounds.

  • Occasionally required to lift, carry, or hold up to 100 pounds.

  • Exposed to extreme temperatures when working outside.

  • Ability to frequently climb up and down and work at height. This includes climbing multiple flights of stairs, ladders (6ft to 14ft), and working from extension ladders.

  • Some repetitive motion required.

  • The typical work environment is a construction site setting.
