Position Summary:

Job duties focus on underwriting various credit requests for the commercial real estate line of business across the Northwest Credit Hub in support of Schaumburg, Village, Barrington and St. Charles banks. The successful candidate will have completed formal credit training and have a minimum of 2 years of prior credit experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Independently analyze credit and financial information of businesses and individuals to determine the degree of risk associated with the extension of credit

  • Working knowledge of credit policy

  • Perform collateral analysis of current and prospective customers

  • Assist in the preparation of loan approval forms for use in decision making by loan officers and the requisite approval authorities

  • Assist in the closing of loans, including reviewing internal and external documentation for accuracy

  • Actively participate in site inspections, customer and prospect calls as a part of the underwriting and due diligence process

  • Actively participate in internal and Wintrust level credit committees in support of approval process

Assist in additional tasks as needed, including exception tracking and clearing, preparing and/or testing client covenant compliance, and assisting in the preparation and monitoring of ongoing financial and collateral reporting requirements

  • Assist lenders with structuring new transactions, negotiating terms with borrowers, overseeing approval process and closings

  • Maintain credit pipeline with appropriate details and comments of deals assigned

  • Ability to work as a team to accomplish tasks required

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Professional demeanor/presentation

  • Strong computer skills, able to adapt to new technology in daily work

  • Ability to multi-task including working on multiple deals concurrently

  • Willingness to be flexible and accommodate to changing demands

  • Sensitive to deadlines and priorities

Requirements: * Minimum of 2-5+ years underwriting experience.Bachelor's Degree preferred or currently being pursued.Basic understanding of insurance concepts, practices, and procedures.Ability to manage high volume workload to meet goals and service standards, while following workflow standard.Sales orientation: able to solicit, qualify, negotiate and close accounts in a manner that promotes deeper partnership with Agents.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Able to build and maintain close working relationships with Agents, UAs, SCSMs, and renewal UWs.Able to understand and execute to strategic priorities including; pricing strategy, agent strategy, rate strategy, underwriting appetite, limit management and mix of business.Demonstrated commitment to service and partners; high level of responsiveness.Strong verbal and written communication.Proficient is MS Office.
