GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Commercial Real Estate Credit Analyst II is primarily responsible for partnering with CRE Underwriters or Portfolio Managers, supporting the daily duties of underwriting and monitoring credit while performing analytical activities and identifying risks or issues as needed. The Credit Analyst II is knowledgeable on financial and risk analysis and demonstrates proficiency in financial modeling.

The CRE Credit Analyst II is expected to build proficiency in underwriting, developing the ability to complete the underwriting process from beginning to end with limited oversight. Additionally, the Credit Analyst II will attend and support Portfolio Reviews as needed.

While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with CRE Underwriters and Portfolio Managers in credit and underwriting, performing analytical tasks as needed

  • Use critical thinking to identify and draft documentation

  • Responsible for regularly completing indicative credit information into Banking Systems with little to no errors

  • Responsible for preparing risk-rating scorecards and financial and covenant analysis and determining actions based on results working in collaboration with UW's and PM's

  • Responsible for developing risk models and advising UWs or PMs of unforeseen obstacles that may impede meeting client expectations

  • Identify and determine monitoring analysis activities required

  • Verify covenants and define updates needed on ticklers

  • Monitor covenant completion and track past due or out of compliance covenants and recommend appropriate course of action

  • Responsible for assessing covenant compliance reporting and identifying issues

  • Update financial covenants and calculations as needed

  • Run Probability of Default (PD) model with oversight

  • Responsible for understanding and evaluating completed financial spreads.

  • Responsible for identifying and recommending preliminary portfolio management actions using Credit Service reporting and RADAR with some oversight

  • Prepares ALSR reports with oversight

  • Responsible for running risk and projection models with oversight assumptions provided

  • Responsible for completing underwriting process with limited oversight

  • Create and complete a CAM with little to no errors

  • Review and re-write renewals for deals of limited complexity

  • Responsible for portfolio analysis and the development for Portfolio Reviews in preparation for client meetings

  • Takes appropriate remedial actions to resolve deficiencies and escalates questions/disputes to appropriate level when necessary.

  • May work on special projects as assigned by management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting)

  • Commercial Real Estate Credit experience strongly preferred

  • Formal credit training strongly preferred

  • Sound Financial and risk analysis understanding, including the ability to develop financial models

  • Critical thinking and writing skills.

  • Knowledge of banking products and services

  • Knowledge of corporate business structure and legal documents

  • General knowledge of U.S. government and regulation

  • Knowledge of the local or regional market preferred, but not required

  • Proficiency in internal banking applications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrated expertise in using effective problem solving and analytical skills with ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like

  • Minimal travel required

As a member of the first line of defense, this individual will lead the credit process, ensuring prudent loan underwriting/loan production, timely and accurate risk rating, and timely and accurate monitoring of credit risk in the loan portfolio. This individual will work closely with the Credit Products Group Manager, Credit Products Managers, Credit Products Associates and Credit Risk Officers to ensure proper process and procedures are being executed accurately and efficiently. In addition, this person will work closely with the Business Unit Head, Market Manager(s) and all other members of the Coverage Team on new and ongoing client activities. This individual will stay abreast of client needs by directly managing a small portfolio of clients.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities</p><ul><li><p>Reviews new loans and renewals to ensure underwritten with within acceptable risk tolerance for bank with structuring to meet needs of the client.</p></li><li><p>Supports, communicates and leads new risk management initiatives in partnership with Compliance</p></li><li><p>Coaches team around client selectivity underwriting, structuring, servicing, risk rating</p></li><li><p>Implements proper oversight and partnership with fulfillment to ensure loans are properly coded, booked and documented in accordance with approval</p></li><li><p>Hires, manages and coaches Credit Products team members</p></li><li><p>Responsible for timely completion of talent management, compensation, and other HR related responsibilities</p></li><li><p>Continuously looking to recruit and build bench strength for the team and across platform</p></li><li><p>Creates strong working relationship with stakeholders and business partners</p></li><li><p>Ensures timeliness and accuracy of risk rating and develops a dynamic risk rating culture</p></li><li><p>Ensures credit monitoring and servicing are timely and accurate</p></li><li><p>Proactively elevates emerging risks and early warning indicators [at both the transaction or portfolio level] to the Segment Manager.</p></li><li><p>Partners with Credit Risk Officers to serve as Point of contact with Credit Review, PAM, internal and external audit in partnership with other Credit Products, Fulfillment, and coverage teams.</p></li><li><p>Collaborates with other leadership and partners to ensure continuous training to maximize efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of completing roles and responsibilities</p></li><li><p>Works on and leads work streams for tactical or strategic initiatives to enhance the business</p></li><li><p>Participates or delegates participants as subject matter experts</p></li><li><p>May act as a player coach depending on the business segment, the size of market coverage, and experience level.
