Position Overview

The Commercial Loan Officer will be responsible for achieving customer service and sales goals as established in the Lending Division's annual operating plan. This individual will perform a variety of duties to meet the commercial services needs of business customers while complying with operating policies and procedures established for the commercial services function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Solicits new business from present and prospective customers; maintains ongoing business relationships with present customers in order to take advantage of additional cross-selling opportunities.

  • Serves as a member of the Bank's sales team; makes group sales calls where these types of calls will improve the opportunity for new business development.

  • Effectively utilizes the bank's Customer Relationship Management program to track customer sales and service activities as well as cultivate prospective opportunities within the office's market area.

  • Maintains an active role in community affairs to improve Bank's visibility in the area; serves on various civic committees to increase Bank community involvement.

  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all Bank commercial products and services in order to ascertain customer needs and to sell in conjunction with these needs.

  • Assists customers in obtaining specialized services from other bank departments as necessary; provides help to customers with specific inquiries or service problems.

  • Develops and manages commercial loan accounts which meet established lending requirements and which provide maximum profitability to the Bank with minimum risk.

  • Requests applicant credit reports, background checks, reference checks, and other information pertinent to the loan applicant's evaluation.

  • Compiles loan packages and facilitates negotiation of loan structure with applicant; ensures loan agreements are complete and accurate according to Bank policy; assures timely loan closing and funding activities; approves loans within established lending authority.

  • Maintains credit quality and portfolio administration within bank guidelines including participation in the collection of delinquent accounts.

  • Continues ongoing education to stay abreast of current lending regulations and procedures.

  • Interviews loan applicants and collects and analyzes financial and related data to determine the general creditability of the prospect and the merits of the specific loan request; establishes and negotiates the terms under which credit will be extended, including the costs, repayment, and collateral requirement.

  • Monitors individual sales performance versus objectives on a regular basis; discusses performance with appropriate supervisor on a frequent basis.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of Bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services.

  • Achieves goals assigned to the Commercial Loan Officer as part of the Lending Division's annual operating plan.

  • Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other bank personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

  • Provides sales information on a timely basis in order that this information may be included as part of customer service and sales performance reports.

  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.

  • Communicates with department management, other department managers, and appropriate staff personnel in order to integrate goals and activities.

Education & Qualifications

  • A B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally required; specialized banking education and training.
  • A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years' experience in related positions normally required.


Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and sales skills; a thorough knowledge of the

features and benefits of all bank commercial products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures which impact commercial services; ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach with hands or arms, use hands to manipulate objects and lift items weighing 20 lbs. or less; visual, auditory and speaking skills; valid driver's license is required.

The RN supports the team by performing activities as outlined below, and as assigned by the RN Nurse Manager or Clinical Services Manager of the team. The RN performs activities that fall within the RN scope of practice. This role works in close collaboration with all of the team members, and may support multiple providers. The RN works under the direction of the provider, and activities are delegated to the RN by the provider, RN Nurse Manager or the team CSM. The RN understands and supports the ISNP model of care, and works in collaboration with the team to meet the goals of the program. Primary Responsibilities: INSERVICES * Monthly outreach to facility contact to determine inservice needs * Keep CSM/NP aware of scheduled inservices * Maintain facility-specific inservice tracker * Conduct OPTUM 101's at new facilities during off hours for 2nd & 3rd shift staff * Periodically provide facilities with list of inservices available from OPTUM * Participate as appropriate in monthly facility new employee orientation providing an abbreviated OPTUM 101 or "walking rounds" in services ROUNDS * Review daily On Call log & review PNP signout * Conduct rounds at facilities during PTO time & as requested by CSM * Assess & report to PNP with any issues * Round on "red" residents as requested during normal business hours as well as off hours and weekends CARE ONE & CHARTS/Pathway EMR effective 2-1-18 * Data mining in facilities * Backfill collection/entry of new effectives * Maintain monthly backfill tracker specific to RN building assignment * Update data as requested by team NPs * Ensure resident charts have proper OPTUM identification as needed CONFERENCE CALLS/MEETINGS/WEBEX * Weekly Organizational Recap call * Weekly RN call * Monthly Documentation & Coding Webex * Monthly designated Committee call * Attend CSM Team Meetings * All Staff Meeting MISCELLANEOUS TASKS AS REQUESTED * Daily Log Review sent out from 6am log -send to PNP's, CSM's & CA's of specific team * Updating/creating Resident Rosters * MMSE's (mostly in the 1st month of opening new facilities) * Prior Authorization completions * On call fax box clean up- checking 2x/week & sending data to appropriate staff * Replacing member face sheets when NP assignments change ACCOUNTABILITIES * The RN reports to the team CSM * The RN is accountable for collaborating with, and working under the direction of the NPs and PAs, and the team CSM * The RN may be assigned to work with multiple providers, and duties and responsibilities may vary according to market needs * The RN functions as part of the overall team, and is accountable for supporting the team in meeting team and market goals and initiatives CREDENTIALING * The RN is responsible for having and maintaining current RN licensure in their state of practice * The RN is responsible for having and maintaining current individual nursing home credentialing * The RN is responsible for maintaining other certifications such as CPR, etc., as required by the state or market Required Qualifications: * Unrestricted RN license in state of practice * 3 years of experience working as a RN * Working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations * Proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel and Power Point * Ability to travel Preferred Qualifications: * 5 years of experience in a community based, Home Care, Hospice and/or long term care setting * Bachelor degree Experience with using an Electronic Medical Record * Familiarity with the long term care business environment * Experience working with the geriatric population * Strong communication skills, written and verbal * Strong organization skills and time management skills * Work independently in an unsupervised setting OptumHealth is part of the family of companies that make UnitedHealth Group one of the leaders across most major segments of the US health care system.
