Job Family Summary
The Commercial Lines team acts as an intermediary between the agent and the insurance company, assisting the agent at multiple levels. The team markets risks to carrier partners on behalf of agents using a combination of automation and direct carrier placement. At different levels, sales skills and knowledge of risks and the insurance market are used to find and arrange suitable insurance policies and arrange coverage. The team acts in the interest of the agents and offers products from more than one insurer to provide the agents the best quotes available to them.
The Commercial Lines Specialist is responsible for day-to-day support to agency owners and internal Commercial staff in meeting new and renewal written premium objectives. The Specialist is accountable to the agent for providing exceptional service, documentation and follow-up on existing business. Will provide appropriate alternative solutions to situations.
Responsible for providing exceptional day-to-day routine consultation, service and support to agents via phone and email
May review policies, process binder, and upload with carrier for binder completion
Responsible for promotion of products and services through daily interactions with agents via phone and email
Resolves issues of moderate complexity using judgment, decision making, creative thinking and problem solving abilities.
Through daily interactions, trains and supports the agent on optimizing the automation platform
Increases retention by speaking with agents, highlighting the features and benefits of Northeast products vs. the competition
Meets daily performance standards
Performs system documentation as it relates to service inquires and follow-up on existing policies in force
Provide Market direction based on risk characteristics and selects appropriate alternatives from options that are clearly defined, but may involve uncommon variations
Product availability SME for multiple lines & carriers, reviews risks for eligibility and conveys information in a concise and professional manner
Increase FCR for agent satisfaction
Responsible for top producing agent service countrywide
Train new placement associates and acts as the subject matter expert for daily inquires
Review and underwrite new business umbrella
College degree and/or prior experience preferred
One year prior experience in customer service, insurance, agency or brokerage required
Demonstrate a broad level of understanding of the insurance markets and the lines of business available at the carrier level
Strong oral and written communication skills
Problem solving aptitude for handling issues as they are presented
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
