As the Commercial Lines Marketer, you will focus the majority of your time working on new and renewal business broking. You will be available to attend information gathering prospect and client meetings and assist in delivering proposals. The Marketer works with the service team and sales staff on assigned marketing projects and will have the ultimate accountability for negotiating terms and conditions on assigned accounts. They work in concert with the Business Insurance Consultant or Account Executive to market new business opportunities or more complex renewal clients and will advise the Business Insurance Consultants or Account Executive on markets and strategies for renewals in general. The Marketer will be a resource to the team from a technical and a marketplace standpoint.
Designs commercial insurance programs and negotiates terms and conditions with underwriters on new and renewal clients. Places binding orders with insurance carriers according to carrier guidelines. Manages primary underwriter relationships with assigned carriers. Advises sales consultants or Account Executives of client premium, coverage terms and conditions, risk alternatives and agency income. Accompanies Sales Consultants or Account Executives as needed on "in person" prospect and client appointments.
Leads marketing process, including concern for timelines, preliminary consultation with account team, apprising team of marketing developments and alternatives, participates in account strategy sessions. Develops and maintains relationships with underwriters, marketing and management personnel. Organizes internal carrier meetings with assigned carriers as well as attending external carrier strategy meetings representing the agency at carrier functions.
Develops coverage and industry expertise as assigned to become a subject matter expert. Attends training and seminars in order to remain current in his/her particular area of specialty.
Works with other Marketing Executives to improve processes and procedures and acts as a backup to others to ensure clients' needs are met. Maintains awareness of industry markets, underwriting requirements, target "niches", and products, and analyzes industry trends to exploit opportunities to increase written business in certain industry and carrier segments.
Serves as primary relationship manager for assigned insurance companies. Develops alternative strategies with carrier personnel and internal staff to improve production results.
