Position Summary:

The Product Commercial Lines Director develops a comprehensive strategy to design products to meet customer needs, improve ease of use for producers, increase premium and improve profitability.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitors the results of existing products and works with Product R&D and the Actuarial division to adjust the design and to modify pricing to meet targets.

  • Identifies important issues in each state, including competitor actions, regulatory relationships, legislative issues, agency strategy and claims/underwriting processes.

  • Formulates a coherent strategy for profitable growth that includes strategic or process improvements.

  • Requires interaction with Marketing, Underwriting, Actuarial, Finance and Claims to achieve corporate objectives.

  • Works with various other functional groups to implement changes.

  • Measures the impact of business changes and adjusts the state strategy accordingly.

  • Responsible for profit/loss and premium growth for all products in a designated region. Long-term objectives include geographic expansion within that region.

  • Recruits, manages and develops various levels of Product Managers and Analysts.

Education:

  • Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 7+ years of commercial product management experience, including managerial experience.

  • Commercial multi-peril/property product management experience strongly preferred.

VIEW JOBS 2/14/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-05-14T00:00 GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Develop new and expand existing C & I banking relationships for companies with $10 million or greater in revenue, generally with credit needs of $1.5 million or greater * Achieve assigned sales and profitability growth goals * Serve as a trusted business advisor to clients and provide a full breadth of banking solutions to meeting their financial objectives and needs * Establish a network of referral sources and Centers of Influence with regular calling efforts to generate new business opportunities * Manage a portfolio of relationships, ensuring an exceptional client experience, while appropriately managing risk, credit quality, servicing, etc. in accordance with Northwest standards and in partnership with a portfolio management team * Guide deals through the underwriting and closing process, ensuring responsiveness to client and compliance with all bank standards and policies * Present deals for credit approval * Negotiate loan terms within acceptable Northwest standards * Proactively keep abreast of industry trends and opportunities * Work as part of a team, including credit administration, portfolio management, loan operations, risk management and product partners * Represent Northwest by actively participating in community and networking events * Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements as well as Northwest policies * Work with onsite equipment PREFERRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: 4 year Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Marketing with at least 5 years of account relationship management experience preferred. Formal credit training preferred. Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of C & I lending, loan servicing, and credit and non-credit products. Strong negotiating skills in terms loan structure and pricing. Knowledge and understanding of risk management. Experience consistently delivering strong sales performance. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize responsibilities. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT: * Develop and expand existing commercial banking relationships * Prospect actively and successfully bring in new relationships to Northwest * Engage with the various product partners on a regular basis to discuss cross selling opportunities and referrals to expand and deepen client relationships * Achieve and exceed budget goals as assigned individually and by region * Actively participate in community and professional networking events * Develop meaningful "Centers of Influence" relationships * Establish and maintain an on-going prospect list * Establish a set calling and meeting schedule for prospects, existing clients, and COIs * Encourage existing clients to provide on-going referrals for all types of products and services * Encourage clients and their employees to maintain their personal banking at Northwest MANAGE COMMERCIAL PORTFOLIO: * Manage a commercial loan portfolio of both credit and noncredit clients * Make loan presentations and recommendations to Credit, team leaders, and senior line of business managers as required * Partner with credit and portfolio management to ensure annual reviews and line of credit renewals are completed on a timely basis * Ensure noncredit clients have appropriate treasury management and other related commercial services * Ensure risk ratings are appropriate * As required, collect on delinquent accounts * Analyze financial statements and related credit material to stay apprised of client performance and assess risk on a continuous basis in conjunction with Portfolio Management * Complete loan closings in partnership with Portfolio Management * Ensure all credit files include current financial statements, agency reports, etc. in partnership with Portfolio Management PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE: * Ensure compliance with Northwest policies and procedures * Ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations * Participate in continued sales, product and credit training * Complete all required Compliance training in a timely basis SAFETY/HEALTH: * Abide by the rules of the safety and loss prevention program * Perform work tasks in a safe manner * Report any and all injuries to their supervisor * Know what to do in the event of an emergency All of the above duties are subject to reasonable accommodation.
