Job Description

This position employs superior customer service skills as part of a sales support team that works with the field to place business with appropriate Brokerage partners. Maintains strong relationships with the field and partners to ensure smooth operation of brokerage business and high quality customer service. Uses fundamental knowledge of brokerage and alliance business models to achieve American Family strategic goals for growth and retention.

Primary Accountabilities
Sales Support (60%)

  • Works with Brokerage staff to ensure business is processed appropriately including managing incoming workflow, initiating policy changes and managing policy documentation.
  • Provides field management and agents with vendor product expertise and support in their sales efforts via an internal sales support team. Works with the field to understand and plan for vendor product sales.
  • Proactively communicates across divisions to optimize sales opportunities and/or mitigate adverse risk by placing business appropriately either in American Family or in Brokerage.
  • Places business with brokerage partners by working with the field to fully understand the customers` needs and determining acceptability of partner insurance coverage based on underwriting guidelines or rules that best meet the needs of the customer.
  • Resolves questions and issues related to applications or policies issued by our vendors. This involves collaboration between operations, underwriting, vendor team/management and agent and field leadership.
  • Initiates and maintains positive relationships with the field to promote brokerage and alliance sales. Interprets the point of view of our customers and the field and suggests courses of action based on feedback. Represents the customer and the Agent in the home office.
  • Promotes sales by initiating contact with field management and agents to communicate product sales opportunities, sales strategies and product or procedure changes/enhancements.


Vendor relationship management (15%)

  • Maintains positive relationships with brokerage and alliance companies to maintain American Family`s high customer service standards.
  • Resolves problems between the field and vendors by maintaining strong relationships and keeping the customer`s best interest in mind.
  • Works with Division staff to address ongoing systemic issues or problems with vendors.
  • Works with vendor companies to develop and analyze brokerage product marketing materials and brand recognition.
  • Partners with the vendor companies to assess and analyze the ease and convenience of agent software and the customer experience.
  • Maintains a level of best practices with the vendor companies to help our customers fulfill their insurance needs and keep complaints to a minimum.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge and expertise in vendor`s underwriting practices.
  • Proactively discerns the viability of submissions from the field force to ensure quality submission to our vendor partners.


Market Research (10%)

  • Builds on existing knowledge concerning emerging trends in the commercial lines, personal lines and bond industry.
  • Researches and identifies markets that best fit and complement American Family`s current product portfolio and that meet company and division strategic goals to maintain a competitive edge for the field force.
  • Researches, secures and examines information for the benefit of departments outside our division as directed.
  • Develops, revises, and implements risk selection parameters based on operations input, underwriting profit/loss results and trends.
  • Evaluates current and future field and company service needs and adapts procedures and methods accordingly.


Project, Reporting and Team Work (10%)

  • Compiles and interprets metrics and writes reports for use by senior support staff and leadership.
  • Partners with vendors to assess and analyze the ease and convenience of field-facing software and the customer experience.
  • Seeks opportunities to collaborate with other business partners to meet corporate and divisional objectives; develops cross-functional knowledge.
  • Assists with training and mentoring of new brokerage and alliance support staff for all product lines and vendor companies.
  • Works collaboratively with American Family's core product teams to evaluate strategic product placement and product supplementation.


Presentations (5%)

  • Delivers formal presentations to Agents and Field Management at regional, state or district meetings.
  • Assists in researching and developing presentation material used for various regional, state or district meetings.
  • Assists in the revision of presentations based on feedback received and changes in the regulatory and sales environment.

VIEW JOBS 11/14/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-12T00:00 Summary of Major Responsibilities The Associate Commercial Training Manager position is to optimize commercial effectiveness training team (CET) and enhance engagement. The primary responsibility is conducting training that supports group training programs, internal training support for the sales/commercial team and individualized coaching sessions with the inside sales team (ISRs). The training sessions are designed to have an immediate impact, positively build sales skills, and drive business results while being consistently aligned to brand and sales/business strategies. The training content is determined by the CET Team, Brand Team, Sales Leadership, Commercial Leadership and Call Training Reports through qualitative assessments related to current execution. Commercial Training Managers are an important link in the continuous learning feedback loop that is designed for on-going assessment and optimization in Exact Sciences sales/business execution. The Associate Commercial Training Manager reports into the training/development department with direct line to National Training. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Assist with the design of sales and customer service curriculum and job aids that build mastery required to improve performance in sales including: product knowledge, sales skills, business analytics, operational selling and territory/time * Participates in the development of training initiatives with other CET personnel and cross-functional partners as appropriate * Builds out, and trains to, advance selling strategies and phone/field preparedness as it pertains to inside sales * Provide performance feedback of new hire sales professionals in order to optimize development and create seamless transitions from the training environment to work in the field * Facilitates "Gap Analysis", creates and conducts group training designed to have immediate impact on sales/commercial skill development and drive results * Conducts training using various mediums such as: Web-Ex, Adobe Connect, video conferencing and in-person facilitation * Provides developmental coaching and feedback to ISRs in 1:1 coaching sessions as well as in group training environments * Provide performance feedback of inside sales professionals in order to optimize development and create seamless transitions from the training environment to work in the field * Establish and enhance processes to operationalize delivery and tracking of sales/commercial training while maximizing the use of the Exact Academy (LMS system) * Collaborates with CET and Commercial Leadership to ensure optimal pull-through of all training programs to include: Initial Sales Training, Brand initiatives, Selling Skills, and Territory Management * Resource to CET, Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Commercial Operations and Marketing for continuous learning related to business execution * Coordinate and facilitate ongoing, and best practice training and development with commercial leadership to develop a best in class commercial organization * Conducts large training events such as new product launches and field force expansions * Conducts Initial onboarding training classes * Completes all special projects as assigned by the Director of Commercial Effectiveness * Possess a high level of market intelligence, including new product, developmental training methods, competitive intelligence, training programs and best practices * Maintains confidentiality at all times and enforces Sales Training and Exact Sciences Policies * Complies with all Exact Sciences Operational Guidelines and Code of Conduct and ensures that all activities, observed or taught, are also in accordance with these guidelines Qualifications Minimum Requirements * Bachelor's Degree Required * Minimum of two (2) years of sales/professional experience (or equivalent) * Strong clinical, selling skills and marketplace knowledge * Ability to be flexible and adjust to multiple priorities * Proficiency with Microsoft Office software * Strong communication (written and oral), and presentation skills (small and large groups) * Demonstrates Leadership and Accountability in current role * Travel limited to assisting various meetings outside of Madison office Desired Characteristics * Experience in project management and developing and delivering effective presentations * Previous field training experience * Master's Degree * Miller Heiman Strategic Selling and/or Conceptual Selling certification * Product Launch or Expansion Launch experience * Experience leading advisory groups and mentoring * Experience in any type of stretch role #LI-JK1 Exact Sciences is an equal employment opportunity employer.
