SUMMARY: The Assistant Underwriter reviews new and renewal business for eligibility and acceptability for all programs.

• Rate and accurately process endorsements, renewals, and cancellations.

• Respond to agent and customer emails with accuracy and thoroughness.

• Assist with evaluation of new business submissions.

• Ensure each risk is eligible and acceptable based on our underwriting standards.

• Work with leadership on Customer Service and Processing to issue, maintain and service agent and insured needs with continuous improvement in cycle times and qualitative assessments.

• Help develop training and development plans and assist support functions' understanding of our business model.

• Contribute to agency management rules and system development, and process changes to improve agent quality, efficiency, and experience.

• Perform customer acceptance testing, consult, and assist our product team's development plans.

• Help create and determine processes to ensure we work efficiently and effectively.

• Complete project assignments as needed and to augment your productivity.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; some post high school education preferred., or two to four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

• Proficiency with Internet browsers, Excel and Word.
