Impark is currently looking for a full-time Commercial Lawyer to work at our Chattanooga, TN location.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented commercial lawyer at our U.S. corporate office in Chattanooga, TN. The Legal Counsel will report to the company's Sr Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary at the company's Head Office in Vancouver, Canada, and will support the Company's rapid growth by delivering practical, business-oriented legal advice to business units and senior management located in over 50 cities in North America. This full-time permanent role will focus primarily on general commercial matters, but applicants possessing additional experience in labor and employment will be preferred.
The Legal Counsel's duties will include:
Providing legal and strategic advice on a wide range of intellectual property, corporate, regulatory, commercial, employment, risk management, privacy and technology-related issues to senior management and various business units
Working closely with the company's Human Resources team on a broad variety of labor, employment and training matters including collective agreements, investigations, compensation and benefits, leaves of absence and accommodations, privacy, diversity and compliance matters
Reviewing and approving legal aspects of major company agreements, including:
Contractor and consultant agreements
Intellectual property licensing arrangements
Leases, concessions, management agreements and services agreements
Business alliance and other agreements
Working with external counsel trans-border to provide advice and assistance regarding:
Compliance issues including privacy, data protection laws, and others
Strategic initiatives driving the company's growth
General litigation strategy and direction
Reviewing current and pending legislation and advising the executive team on risk mitigation strategies
Participating in special projects and acquisitions
Providing leadership, management and planning for the legal support staff
Developing and maintaining various corporate policies, practices and legal processes
General oversight and responsibility for all other legal issues
Travel, as required
Other duties, as assigned
