Tescor is looking for someone to join our Commercial HVAC Technician who will be responsible for using schematics to lay out and install refrigeration components, braze, and solder piping, perform leak and vacuum testing, and charge systems with refrigerant.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Operates refrigeration components, pipe installation and fitting and plumbing work

  • Work and maintain refrigeration systems and other process fluid loops for walk-in freezers, environmental rooms, automotive test benches, calorimeters, and other custom equipment

  • Support production and engineering teams to ensure system specifications are met

  • Reads and comprehends process flow and engineering schematics

  • Layouts, cuts, mounts, and connects process piping using solder, brazing and other methods

  • Fills process loops with specified gases or fluids

  • Cuts, threads, and connects pipe to functional components and water or power system on premises

  • Insulates piping, heaters, and various other system components

  • Read and understand electrical schematics and mechanical blueprints

  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Ensure work is performed in a safe manner using all available safety equipment

  • All other related duties as assigned

  • Possess mental faculties consistent with performing the minimum requirements of the job

Qualifications:

  • HVAC Certification

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an HVAC Technician

  • EPA Universal Certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven experience working with steam systems, black iron, stainless, brass, and PVC piping, pipe fitting, soft and silver soldering

  • Proven knowledge of the refrigeration cycles to identify components in advanced refrigeration circuits, diagnose and correct problems in the refrigeration circuit

  • Use manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for refrigeration routine maintenance and troubleshoot

  • Proven knowledge of refrigeration recovery, evacuation, and charging

  • Strong organizational skills to meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams

  • Strong attention to detail skills to follow up accurately

Physical Requirements:

  • The position is located in a manufacturing environment and will involve hands-on work. Physical activity may include lifting (up to 50lbs.), bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand-eye coordination, and manual dexterity or sitting for long periods of time.

  • Ability to speak verbally, and read in English

  • Ability to see with corrective lenses

  • Ability to differentiate colors

  • Ability to hear

  • Ability to walk

  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically

Hazards:

  • Normal hazards related to working in an office environment, manufacturing, and testing environment

  • Normal hazards related to road and air travel
