Commercial Electrician

Job Summary:

The Commercial Electrician will be responsible for installing commercial electrical wiring, recessed lighting, and electrical component according to local NEC codes.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Digs underground trenches to carry cables.

• Cutting, bending, threading, and running electrical conduit materials.

• Terminating electrical panels, set fixtures, outlets, and various electrical devices.

• Installs EMT, PVC, GRC, and other conduit and cable systems.

• Install panels, disconnect, meters, and other gear- related items.

• Interpret and install building lighting controls.

• Inspects and tests powerlines and related equipment.

• Determines whether transformers, voltage regulators, switches, or other devices are defective.

• Uses truck-mounted bucket lifts or climbs poles to access powerlines or equipment.

• Operates power tools and equipment when installing or repairing lines, towers, and utility poles.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Working knowledge of installation and repair of electrical systems.

• Working knowledge of National Electric Code.

• Ability to interpret basic drawings.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good work ethic and willingness to learn new methods.

• Self-motivated and driven to get job done.

• Proficient in electrical systems diagnostic equipment.

• Excellent mechanical skills.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship required.

• Clean MVR driving record required.

Physical Requirements:

• Physically able to work with heavy tools and equipment at heights.

• Must be able to lift 60 pounds at a time to carry heavy cable.
