Commercial Director - East
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Commercial Director will provide leadership to the commercial agenda for the assigned region in support of the VP Performance Management, through building sales plans for the region and expanding capabilities within our distributor network on our Execution agenda. This role will be a key regional link between the category BD Directors/Manager teams, central teams, and senior distributor teams. This role will require the management of multiple stakeholders and be able to move seamlessly between strategy, detail and tactics. Leads a team of Trade Development Managers for the region.
Role and Responsibilities
Develops strategies and sales plans for category Business Development resources to execute in market.
Accountability for activity across category development for the region, collecting and delivering category insights and data-backed strategies to support brands and define holistic category strategy. Collaborates effectively with Advanced Analytics team to gather and translate relevant insights to drive opportunities for growth in the region.
Support Sales Planning for the region, translating brand and category strategy into channel and retail specific selling plans and forecasts, ensuring seamless translation to execution
Has constructive conversations with BD category teams and distributor executive teams when performance is off track in the region to ensure that we have plans in place to improve
Manages a team of Trade Development managers for the region, ensuring that we are activating in region against the key priorities. Provides coaching and leadership to L5 direct reports. Oversees overall PO management, tracks ongoing spend towards overall budget
Work closely with other Commercial Directors across the region to support division level strategies and roll-up trends/needs
Works with VP Performance Management to deliver a sustainable RTM and business planning cycle thru ad hoc projects. Takes leadership role for region on strategy evaluation and analysis behind RTM projects in conjunction with cross-functional teams. Supports division teams to ensure innovation readiness for flawless launches in region
ABOUT YOU
Preferred Experience, Skills and Education Requirements
Business degree. Master's degree desirable
Must have 5+ years of cross functional commercial experience, with strong analytical skills
Consistent track record of being able to manage a wide array of stakeholders
Must be performance and process oriented and understand and apply interdependencies with other functions. Must know how to use and execute metrics to measure performance
Must have solid knowledge of financial management, including working applications of financial planning, analysis, and strategy
Persuasive sell, negotiation, & problem solving
Superior communication skills, and ability to easily and effectively flex styles to manage results thru diverse group of stakeholders (internal, distributor, etc.)
Extremely positive; highly organized; excellent influencer; exhibits independence/needs little supervision; quick learner; and exhibits resiliency and tenacity in the face of challenge
