CFC has a need for a Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager

  • Telecom to join our Portfolio Management team. This is a hybrid position requiring onsite work at our headquarters office in Sterling, VA, as well as optional remote workdays. This position is responsible for lending account management and relationship management of a specific group of high-profile, high activity accounts, their subsidiaries and their affiliates within the CFC telecommunications portfolio.

As a Commercial Credit Portfolio Manager

  • Telecom, you will:
  • Work independently to originate, analyze, process and service loans primarily for high activity, high profile or more complex accounts.

  • Independently prepare loan proposals and analysis customized to each potential deal.

  • Perform portfolio management activities for existing loans to include loan structuring, interest rate conversions and repricings.

  • Maintain a high level of member engagement and consult with members to ensure member satisfaction and appropriate relationship and portfolio management for each member.

  • Ensure that all credit risk management activities including risk ratings and annual reviews are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Assist with preparation of competitive materials and the presentation of materials.

  • Help drive a high level of member engagement with focus on preserving the existing loan portfolio, growing loan volume.

  • Monitor credit compliance, analyze associated risks, and consult with Vice President Portfolio Management (VPPM) and member to develop an action plan for appropriate resolution.

  • Monitor competitive issues and loan pricing for portfolio of assigned accounts.

  • Detect potential problem credits and collaborate with appropriate CFC staff including VPPM in the resolution of problems.

  • Independently coordinate all aspects of loan negotiations and documentation.

  • Present financial information to co-ops, CFC management, Corporate Credit Committee, and Board of Directors (if requested) in clear and concise manner.

  • Assist with the training and mentoring of other Associate Vice Presidents and Credit Analysts.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting or related field.

  • Five years of banking or other relevant experience dealing with high-profile, high activity accounts.

  • Completion of credit training program in banking.

  • Advanced knowledge and application of financial and accounting principles.

  • Advanced knowledge of loan structures and legal documents.

  • Excellent customer service orientation.

  • Advanced analysis and critical thinking skills including credit analysis, interest rate modeling and portfolio structuring.

  • Advanced ability to read and interpret financial and legal documents.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent team and collaboration skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Able to deal effectively within a fast-paced environment that requires employee to handle conflicting priorities and multi-task.

  • Demonstrated ability to work through details and navigate complexity.

  • Proven ability to communicate and develop both written and verbal persuasive positions and materials.

  • Financial forecasting skills.

  • Significant relationship management and negotiation skills.

  • Effective self-starter.

  • Microsoft Office Suite and credit spreading software abilities.
