The convenience store retail business is the largest 7-Eleven licensee in the United States and operates approximately 300 convenience stores in central and west Texas and New Mexico.
Delek is growing its Legal team to support its business units, including refinery operations, transportation and logistics, retail operations and the corporate support center.
The Contracts Attorney will assist with the development, management and administration of contracts, tracking key terms and monitoring compliance with established policies and procedures, and helping to ensure that Delek is achieving value from its contracts.
The ideal candidate should be an organized, energetic, hands-on team player capable of managing many different duties simultaneously. Good research and writing skills, people skills and a positive attitude are important as this position interacts with employees across business units on a daily basis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Review, markup/draft of contracts (from templates and original drafting), negotiate and close, contracts, including master services agreements, statements of work, letters or intent, purchase and sale agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and other supporting documents across Delek's business units.
Assist in due diligence activities associated with potential merger and acquisition endeavors.
Provide rapid, accurate, and thorough turnaround for routine contracts.
Develop and maintain library of contract documents and templates.
Log key contract terms and prepare data reports as requested
Identify, review and mitigate financial, legal, and commercial risks in consultation with the relevant subject matter experts.
Review final contract against agreed and approved position.
Suggest process improvement ideas to improve inefficiencies in the contracting process and contribute to other process improvement initiatives.
ADDITIONAL OCCASIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support Legal Department with additional projects and duties as assigned
Coordinate employee training on contracting processes
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Juris Doctorate with a valid license to practice law in any state and ability to qualify as in house counsel in Tennessee.
Minimum of five years of Legal experience
Understanding of the formation of contracts and common legal terms and requirements
Experience negotiating contract terms
Attention to detail and organization
Experience with contract management and administration
Strong verbal skills and superior grammatical and writing skills
Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office Suite; Excel; Share Point)
Prior experience using Contract Management systems, preferred
TRAVEL: Occasional, 10% or less
