Job Location: 1905 Stewart Avenue, Wausau WI 54401
Hours: Workday is normally 8-5pm, Monday-Friday, expected to work the hours needed to meet job performance expectations
Responsible for business development, origination, underwriting and closing secured and unsecured commercial loans with a primary focus on small and mid-market business. Expand relationships with existing customers and establish relationships with prospective business customers, government agencies and other financial institution personnel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain an active calling program on an existing customer portfolio, deepening existing relationships by providing all necessary banking services including loans, deposits, treasury management and investment services.
Develop and maintain an active calling program on prospective new customers with a focus on small and middle market opportunities.
Receive and screen loan applications; analyze applicant's financial status, credit and property evaluation to determine feasibility of granting loan requests; approve loans within specified limits; present larger loan requests to loan committee for approval; communicate loan decisions to applicants, including rationale for decisions, and assures necessary supporting documents are prepared.
Direct and participate in the closing of approved commercial loan agreements; ensure that all required closing documents are prepared and processed.
Maintain a working knowledge of compliance with bank loan policy and related banking regulations.
Monitor and review assigned commercial loan portfolio on a regular basis; proactively identify problem or delinquent loan accounts or those having an adverse impact on bank profitability; initiate appropriate corrective actions on delinquent accounts on a timely basis; refer problem accounts to manager as required or needed.
Identify and manage call referrals/joint calls within the bank for other bank-related services for cross selling opportunities.
Participation in community events and activities to support Pride in Peoples.
Five or more years of bank commercial lending experience and investments or equivalent education in bank lending procedures and investment policies.
Bachelor's degree in business, finance and/or accounting, which includes specific courses in commercial lending, business administration, accounting, finance and communications.
Good verbal communication skills as evidenced by the ability to interact both face-to-face and over the telephone with customers and co-workers. Demonstrated ability to use tact, diplomacy, and a "professional" personal appearance, when dealing with customers and co-workers.
Good math skills.
Prior sales experience in financial services.
Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and assist at other locations as requested.
Analytical (statistical), organizational, time management and problem-solving ability.
Successful accomplishment of specified performance objectives as outlined for the incumbent by the department and/or bank management, as applicable to the commercial lending/calling officer position.
Good written communication skills including proofreading and editing skills.
Good knowledge of computer systems utilized to process transactions.
Familiarity with local financial marketplace (competitors, demographics, geography, industries, etc.)
