As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing the team of Credit Support Specialists that provide dedicated Pre- Underwriting support. This is a new team that is responsible for gathering and submitting to the Underwriter information necessary to reach a credit decision. The individual in this position will help build the team, ensure it is functioning as planned and work with senior leaders to optimize the process. Expanding the team beyond its initial scope and offshoring a portion of the team will also be a key responsibility of this manager.

Core Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the team is operating at maximum effectiveness, submitting all required information accurately and timely and preventing workflow issues before they occur.

  • Establish metrics and key performance indicators to measure the success of the team and to ensure that the needs of the business are met. Hire and retain talent to support expansion of team.

  • Strong ability to work and collaborate with offshore support. Review progress of work performed offshore to balance incoming work.

  • Proactively review and allocate new deal requests. Monitor status of requests to ensure timely receipt of information.

  • Work closely with the Manager, Underwriting Center Managers, bankers and Market Managers to foster partnership amongst the teams.

  • Actively monitor WebCLASS exception reports. Monitor and follow up for past due items. Compile and provide updates to the Manager, Credit Risk Director and Underwriting managers twice a month.

  • Actively participate in the workflow tool project enhancements and evaluate the impact upon processes, systems and procedures.

  • Effectively implement workflow tool changes and policy or procedural changes through communication with Credit Support Specialists and impacted partners.

  • Provide a collaborative and productive environment for all Credit Support Specialists.

  • Escalate issues, resolutions, best practices to Manager.

  • Lead regular meetings to update staff on changes to processes, systems, procedures, solve issues, share best practices.

  • Work closely with WLS partners to ensure all transactions are handled properly.

  • Proactively handle iSurvey results.

Required Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience.

  • Strong operational and procedural management experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience in commercial loan operations or a credit/lending environment.

  • Sound knowledge of commercial credit products and credit systems.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work calmly under pressure and in a fast paced environment.

  • Detail oriented with ability to multi task and work in a team based environment.

  • A history of independent problem solving work.

  • Ability to collaborate with peers and senior management.

Wholesale Lending Services (WLS) exists within Commercial Banking and provides loan servicing functions to all JPMorgan lines of business. These functions include loan documentation, closing and funding, payment and fee processing, syndication loan and trade processing, credit administration, credit agreement compliance monitoring and collateral perfection and management. This position resides within the WLS Credit Administration team and will lead the teams responsible for all complex commercial and industrial loan closing and documentation activity within Commercial Banking. Job Responsibilities: * Lead the Credit Support Specialist teams that provide loan closing and documentation coordination for complex loans in Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries, Corporate Client Banking and Asset Based Lending. * Drive efficiency, consistency, timeliness and accuracy to best serve those businesses. * Identify opportunities for improvement, drive the appropriate change through effective planning and execution. * Develop strong, collaborative relationships with key internal operations partners to drive accountability for delivering a best in class client experience in a well-controlled environment. * Develop or enhance metrics and KPI's to measure the success of the teams. * Ensure effective stakeholder engagement and communications. * Work with partners throughout the businesses, the middle office and WLS teams to resolve issues and optimize performance Qualifications: * 10+ years commercial banking experience with minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role * Experienced leader. Comfortable leading dynamic projects and project workgroups * Experience managing complex programs * Experience in senior stakeholder engagement, interaction, communication and negotiation * Knowledge of the Firm's or similar financial institution's credit policy as well as working knowledge of loan operations preferred * Strong influencing, negotiation and relationship management skills * Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to multiple levels of management, both written and verbal * Creative, results driven, self-motivated, and solutions oriented * Strong analytical skills and ability to isolate root cause * Ability to be flexible, follow tight deadlines, organize and prioritize work in order to support concurrent projects * Well organized.
