Overview

The purpose of this job is to aid clients with service needs and provide assistance to producers in handling and processing new and renewal commercial business.

Responsibilities

  • Market new and renewal business including proposals and update profit and loss information Answer clients and insurance companies' questions and needs by phone, mail, fax Issue binders and certificates of insurance Keep updated suspense, expiration lists, and maintain electronic and paper files Request and process policies endorsements, audits, and cancellations including invoicing Attend continuing education classes and seminars to improve insurance knowledge

Qualifications

  • High school diploma; college degree preferred

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with Commercial Lines in an agency environment or 1 year Commercial Lines experience with a commercial insurance company, or completion of Insurance Development Associate Program

  • ACSR, CPSR designation preferred

  • Must currently possess or be able to obtain a Florida 440 license or Mississippi Property and Casualty license within three months of date of hire.

  • Knowledge of all commercial lines of insurance, company underwriting guidelines and agency's binding authority

  • Self starter

  • Creative with good oral and written communication skills

  • Time management skills

  • Ability to make informed decisions

  • Ability to train others preferred

Job Title: Commercial Lender Functional Title: Commercial Lender Physical Location: Jackson, Mississippi Market - Various locations in the Jackson, Mississippi Market Reports To: Bank President or Senior Lender Working Conditions: Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions Compensation: Salary + Incentives Job Grade: Officer Job Group Category: Exempt Work Hours: Normally M-F 8 am-5 pm, may vary between locations Primary Purpose: (Summary of major reason this job exists) Under general supervision, but in accordance with established lending policies and procedures, receives and reviews applications for commercial and consumer credit, primarily commercial. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Majority of duties performed, but not meant to be all inclusive or to prevent other duties from being assigned. * Solicits business from potential and existing customers (outside and inside bank location) to include loans and deposits. * Interviews commercial applicants and processes loan applications. * Analyzes applicant's financial status and credit to determine feasibility of granting loan. * Prepares appropriate loan documentation and verifies loan agreements are complete and accurate according to bank policy. * Approves loans that meet established lending criteria and are within approved lending limits. * Maintains customer relationships. * Manages a portfolio of consumer and commercial loans (primarily commercial). * May coordinate some collection efforts. * Provides and maintains a professional, business-like atmosphere within the banking division. * Represents the financial institution in public relations activities and community affairs. Job Specifications: Knowledge, skills, and abilities normally required for competent performance in the job. * Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. * A minimum of five (5) years experience in a financial institution as a commercial lender. * Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. * Sales oriented. * Knowledgeable of laws and regulations applicable to lending practices.
