We are looking for multiple Wastewater Treatment Operators for one of the largest petroleum refineries in the Rocky Mountain region. In this role you will be responsible for maintaining the safe and reliable operation of processes to optimize water treatment in an environmentally responsible manner. You will work closely with our seasoned operators on the operation of various filtering and chemical treatment processes and maintaining the wastewater treatment plant and facilities in accordance with regulations, policies, and standards.

Minimum Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)

• A valid minimum Class D Municipal Wastewater or Class D Industrial Wastewater treatment licence for Colorado

• Understanding of primary separation treatment equipment, including lift stations, API separators, surge tanks, and dissolved gas flotation units

• Understanding of return activated sludge systems, process controls, and operating ranges

• Understanding of membrane bio-reactors and ultra filtration technologies, process controls, and operating ranges

• A valid driver's license with a driving record acceptable to Suncor

• Must be legally authorized to work in the USA for the duration of your employment

Responsibilities:

• Operate refinery equipment in a safe, efficient manner, according to established refinery practices, procedures, and operating guidelines

• Maintain process equipment through the application of preventative maintenance and troubleshooting

• Perform biological and chemical analysis and interpret data for proper process adjustments

• Ensure chemical systems (iron and selenium removal) are operating within their range

• Maintain and submit water and wastewater compliance records

• Oversee operations and equipment for deviations

• Monitor and adjust equipment and process variables to maintain safe and environmentally sound operations and ensure product quality

• Contribute positively to team culture, with a focus on the safety of people and the environment

Location and Key Details:

• Start date for these roles will be Monday, September 9th, 2024

• You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.

• Relocation support will be provided for candidates living outside of driving distance to the refinery

• The shift schedule is a rotating 12-hour shift, including holidays, weekends (MDOPY), and overtime as needed

• In alignment with Suncor's value of Safety Above All Else, we conduct pre-employment drug testing, employment verification, education verification, background checks, and other pre-employment assessments as a condition of employment

Hourly Rate and Compensation Details:

• This is a union represented position under USW 12-477

• $34.53 / hour to start; once qualified in the first area, the rate increases to $46.07 / hour (obtainable in approximately 3 to 5 months); with annual increases
