This position is responsible for basic to moderately complex pre-closing and post-closing review of commercial loan and mortgage documentation and quality control review of proposed coding to monitor adherence to legal, regulatory and internal lending, credit and risk policy requirements and to ensure accurate database coding for various internal and external reports.
Performs final pre-closing review of loan and mortgage documentation prepared in-house as well as by outside attorneys, including verification of critical loan codes for the system.
Ensures all loans, extensions, modifications and renewals are documented adhering to internal policies and procedures and external requirements. Completes pre-closing check for regulatory compliance including but not limited to Flood Regulations, OFAC, HMDA and CRA. Approves the loan for closing.
Works cross-functionally under tight deadlines with loan officers, risk and compliance areas as well as peers and management across loan operations to resolve documentation issues. Requests assistance as needed for unique and/or complex situations to resolve issues within required timeframes.
Performs post-closing review of attorney prepared new loan packages to ensure no material changes have been made without proper credit approval. Completes a post-closing certification checklist to verify and document that no changes have occurred without proper approvals. Backs up disbursement process/approval as needed.
Assists with monthly reporting. Assists in various department projects and other Loan Servicing functions as needed.
Adheres to compliance procedures and internal/operational risk controls in accordance with any and all applicable regulatory standards, requirements, and policies.
College degree or equivalent work experience required.
1-3 years relevant experience.
Knowledge and understanding of commercial loan documentation, policies, procedures and operations with specialized knowledge of related regulatory and compliance mandates and issues. Ability to keep informed of trends and developments
Ability to understand and apply regulatory compliance and credit policy to daily responsibilities. Experience analyzing legal documents and determining a course of action based on findings.
Working knowledge of basic accounting principles.
Ability to evaluate, analyze and quantify the impact of the issues involved.
Strong PC skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, internet, e-mail and industry standard software. Ability to learn to use additional software as needed. Ability to view and concentrate on scanned images on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
Ability to meet individual deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy in a high volume, fast paced and multi-task environment.
Time management and organization skills. Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, manage priorities and provide timely status updates.
Ability to use own discretion when faced with routine decisions and appropriately escalate issues requiring a higher level of decision making or problem solving.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees, management and external counterparts. Ability to establish and foster critical internal and external working relationships.
