Program Overview

The Comcast Cooperative Educational Program (Co-op) immerses students into the daily operations of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast's top innovators. Designed for students whose curriculum allows for a cooperative learning track, the co-op becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units. Throughout the experience, there is opportunity for exposure to mentorship and professional development while having some fun along the way.

Role Overview

WHO WE ARE

The Comcast Strategic Development (SD) team answers "what's next" for Comcast by developing strategies to execute acquisitions, partnerships, and incubate new growth businesses. We identify, negotiate and manage strategic deals on behalf of the company. We also source, evaluate, and advocate for strategic investments and M&A opportunities that accelerate growth of our core business or secure footholds in emerging areas.

Job Summary:

The Co-op will have the opportunity to work on a variety of strategic and high visibility projects that help shape growth areas for Comcast. The scope of this role includes identifying new growth opportunities, evaluating investment opportunities, answering key strategic questions, and supporting or driving high impact projects. This person will have the opportunity to interact with & present to SD leadership and certain Cable business unit leadership. They will be assigned a SD Strategy team "mentor", and will support SD Strategy team members through their analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to conduct in-depth analyses and make recommendations.

Co-op responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion, with great efficiency

  • Participate in team/project discussions and brainstorms

  • Formulate structured approaches to solving problems and have a high level of comfort in working in ambiguity

  • Conduct research on topics, company deep dives, analyze/interpret equity reports & company fillings

  • Create and present effective slides & storylines to communicate outputs, tailored to audience & objectives

  • Prepare various financial and valuation analyses, includes analyses of growth, profitability, returns, investments and cash flow with support from team members

  • Gathering data, draw conclusions from analysis and data to recommend next steps

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills developed during co-op:

  • Understand how a business can grow inorganically and considerations of assessing JVs/partnerships, M&A, etc.

  • Building strong, meaningful stories and slideware that is polished / "executive ready"

  • Financial modeling in excel (valuation, revenue buildups, comps, sum of parts, etc.)

  • Public speaking (prepped and ad lib); presenting to leadership and team members

  • Accurate identification and interpretation of financial, operational, customer metrics and implications to business

  • Project planning, collaboration

Top 3 Skills Required for Success:

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to effectively research companies, financials/valuation, industries, investment/partnership opptys., etc.

  • Overcommunication on work capacity and core time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PPT

  • Introductory understanding of Finance, Accounting, and Business/Management concepts

  • Excellent time management and communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to think critically, even in ambiguous situations

  • Ability to "present well" and interface with all levels of management

  • Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong interest in telecom, media, and technology industries

  • Preferred Majors: Business/Finance; other majors are welcomed to apply

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.

  • Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting September 23, 2024 through March 28, 2025.

  • Available to report in-person to the work location provided above.

  • 3.0 minimum cumulative GPA preferred.

  • Authorized to work in the United States of America

Compensation

Base Pay: $27.00

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a Commission under the terms of an applicable plan, while most non-sales positions are eligible for a Bonus.
