The City of Greenwood Village welcomes your interest in the Combination Building Inspector. The purpose of this position is to safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare by ensuring compliance with Village standards and codes through conducting proper building inspections.
The Combination Building Inspector inspects building, plumbing, mechanical, and energy installations in all commercial, residential and tenant finish construction within the Village. This position will coordinate inspections with other departmental personnel; review special inspector reports; inspect buildings for safety issues and hazardous situations; respond to public inquiries and meet with homeowners, contractors and other design professionals to discuss code requirements. This position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to establish and maintain relationships with both internal and external customers.
The knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position are typically gained through the attainment of a high school diploma or GED and specialized training in applicable engineering, architecture, or construction technology, supplemented by three years of responsible experience as a building inspector or related construction experience. Requires possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of hire, certification from the International Code Council as a Building Inspector and Mechanical Inspector. Possession of a journeyman plumber's license is desirable.
