Job Description

Combat Engineers are essential to mission success by assisting their fellow Soldiers in tackling unpredictable environments. As a member of an Army National Guard Combat Engineer team, you'll design and build bridges, roadways, secure perimeters, and tactical firing systems, as well as detect and safely neutralize mines and other dangers to safeguard your team and repel the enemy.

Job Duties

  • Construct fighting positions, fixed/floating bridges, obstacles, and defensive positions

  • Place and detonate explosives

  • Conduct operations that include route clearance of obstacles and rivers

Job training requires 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 14 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Your on-the-job training primarily consists of hands-on work in a variety of construction projects.

We're currently looking for a Construction Manager to join our team in Pomona CA. The position will be managing a telecom overhead /underground project in Beverly Hills and will be required to be at the job location daily. This position will transfer to other work locations as needed when project is completed or as work is deemed necessary. CONSTRUCTION MANAGER (CM) This position is accountable for all operational aspects of the project's success from initial bidding process, to meeting or exceeding the clients' expectations through profitable completion of the job. Additionally, the CPM collaborates and coordinates with other functional areas within the project team in the planning and execution of the job. This includes: * Serve as main point-of-contact by establishing, maintaining and managing subcontractor, and joint venture partner's expectations (where applicable) relating to project performance. * Report project status and performance data as required to management, project sponsors and other stakeholders. * Ensure strict adherence to all H&M Safety Policies, Procedures and Practices. * Ensure compliance with the established H&M Project Management Methodology (PMM). * Plan, monitor, and control the project throughout its lifecycle (bid, contract award, engineering/design, procurement, construction, close out). Responsibilities: * Must possess knowledge and experience of Underground telecom fiber conduit trenching/placing including directional drilling activities, micro trenching activities, underground fiber placement/aerial fiber cable placement on existing telecom/power poles. * Construction team management: Direct oversight of construction supervisors, project and field engineers, fleet management, and project coordinators, and community interface. * Overall coordination and implementation of the construction program, including management of project staff, schedule, cost, estimating, and interface with engineering and business functions. * Cost Management: budget updates, early identification of cost issues and identification of appropriate remedial actions, ensure timely and accurate updates, review budget changes, and report to management. * Schedule Management: schedule detail input with project controls team. Coordination and implementation of schedule with construction team. Develop, optimize, implement, and update project schedules to ultimately meet or exceed schedule commitments. * Risk Management: work with Operations Manager to maintain the project risk management template throughout project life cycle and update project plan / construction plan in order to manage risks appropriately. * Coordinate and maintain project documentation and distribution. * Review subcontractor and supplier qualification and other documents to ensure compliance with project requirements. * Collaborate and coordinate with the Contract Management Group to analyze any design/other changes to quantify schedule and/or cost impact(s) of any delays, claim, back-charges, and other contract requirements. * Accountable to ensure construction work complies with project contract documents, including commercial and technical specifications, scope, schedule, and performance requirements). * Prepare contract correspondences and provide guidance and assistance to any required Field Installation and start-up effort. * Provides support to the Procurement Group for project related purchases (specifications, budgets, deliveries, performance) * Prepares reports as required by customers and/or management. * Understanding of construction cost and tracking systems that incorporate earned value management principles associated with cost, labor, equipment, material, subcontractors, and financial reporting. * Knowledge of QA/QC and Safety programs including implementation, auditing, site evaluation, and coaching. * Knowledge of contract administration, construction, and change management principles. Required Skills: * Advanced knowledge and experience in construction industry PMM, preferably with self-perform contractors. * Strong interpersonal, leadership, verbal and written communication skills required. * Experience / knowledge of construction operations, financial acumen and team-based management required. * +5 years of relevant project management experience, including experience in a lead project management role. Joint Venture and/or EPC experience is preferred. * Working knowledge of Telecom construction practices. * BS degree in engineering, engineering technologies, or construction management program.
