Amentum is seeking a dynamic Combat Assessment Coordinator (BDA) to provide research, planning and analysis support to the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) Integrated Joint Fires Center (IJFC) at Camp H.M. Smith, Hawaii.

USINDOPACOM maintains a Theater Campaign Plan (TCP) to shape the environment in the USINDOPACOM Area of Operations; Concept Plans (CONPLANs); and Operational Plans (OPLANS) in order to ensure the Combatant Commander is postured to rapidly respond to these types of contingencies.

The Combat Assessment Coordinator will manage the following combat assessment requirements:

  • Battle Damage Assessment (BDA);

  • Collateral Damage Assessment;

  • All-Domain Effects Assessment; and

  • Re-Attack criteria in support of All-Domain targeting plans to achieve joint effects throughout the Indo-Pacific AOR.

The Combat Assessment Coordinator will provide assessment expertise in the planning of:

  • War Plans, Force Protection;

  • Manned and Unmanned Aerial Platform Operations;

  • Kinetic and Non- kinetic Attacks;

  • Special Munition Employment;

  • Mitigation of Risk to Mission and Risk to Force; and

  • Integration requirements of other service components, allies, and partner nations within the Joint Coalition Combat Assessment enterprise to achieve maximum Joint effects against selected targets.

Specific Duties Include:

  • Gather and compile information from various sources, including field reports, intelligence data, and communication channels, to create a comprehensive overview of IJFC requirements in combat operations.

  • Assess the success and shortcomings of the IJFC and relevant USINDOPACOM units by evaluating objectives, tactics, and outcomes, considering factors such as enemy engagement, casualties, and equipment performance.

  • Conduct debriefs with the IJFC and relevant USINDOPACOM units involved in combat, extracting firsthand accounts and insights to enhance the understanding of mission dynamics.

  • Work closely with intelligence teams to incorporate relevant data into assessments, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of the operational environment.

  • Develop and implement metrics to measure the effectiveness of military operations, helping to identify trends and areas for improvement.

  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing combat assessments, providing actionable recommendations for USINDOPACOM unit leaders and decision-makers.

  • Establish systems for ongoing monitoring of combat operations, ensuring that assessment data remains current and relevant for adapting strategies.

  • Identify lessons learned, both successes and failures, and create strategies to apply these insights to future operations.

  • Evaluate potential risks and vulnerabilities within military operations, offering insights to minimize future threats and enhance overall mission success.

  • Maximize Joint unity of effort through developing, publishing, and updating Combat Assessment of integrated Joint fires plans in alignment with the Commander's intent and priorities of effort.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university

  • At least 10 years of experience supporting the Department of Defense (DoD), including at least 5 years of experience in military operations

  • At least 3 years of experience working in military plans

  • At least 3 years of experience in a senior military staff office (Service HQ, Combatant Command, OSD, JS)

  • Knowledge of the Indo-Pacific AOR

  • Experience conducting research on a range of topics and functional areas

  • Experience in operational and/or strategic levels of DoD planning and/or execution

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient at authoring analytical and/or policy documents

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Must have an active Top-Secret security clearance, with SCI eligibility later during employment. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top-Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, and graduate from a military command and staff college
  • 10 or more years of experience in military plans
  • 5 years' experience working in the USINDOPACOM AOR

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of the planning continuum to include the Joint Operational Planning Process (JOPP), Joint Operating Concepts (JOC), and Joint Capabilities Areas (JCA)

  • Detailed knowledge of USINDOPACOM policy and strategy and a thorough understanding of USINDOPACOM TCP/TCO, GCPs, CT EXORD, OPLANs, CONPLANs, and Theater Security Cooperation Plans including linkages to parallel national interests

  • Thorough understanding of the Military Decision-Making Process (MDMP) to include mission analysis, course of action development, analysis, comparison, recommendation, and approval

  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing in order to provide information, articles, written reports, and presentations to include delivering executive summaries to flag and general officers (FO/GO) and Senior Executive Service (SES) level officials.

The salary range for this position is $150K to $160K (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
