Responsibilities:

  • Responsiblefor creating the development process and technical aspects of assigned equipmentproducts by collaborating closely with cross functional partners in design andproduct development to ensure design integrity, quality, color, and targetprice are met/maintained and that products are developed within establishedtimelines.

  • Collaborate with Equipment Designer to procure critical design information related to the technical development requirements of a style or product including; material, trim, color direction and style intent.

  • Provideaccurate equipment (bags and packs) technical illustrations and constructiondetails. Ensure critical computer data for seasonal styles and the PDM (productdata management) process.

  • Apply color to technical sketches as directed for seasonalcad books and sales tools. Communicate category related product information tointernal departments.

  • Participate as a team member in creating, tracking,organizing, and proofing product related information. Keep computer filesorganized and updated for access by team members.

  • Ensure bill of materials, specification, measurements andconstruction comments are maintained, accurate and communicated to appropriatedownstream partners.

  • Ensure color details are entered and accurate in PDM system.

  • Shepherdprototype creation from initial specification creation through first and secondprototype to approval.

  • Attend protoreview sessions for assigned products to make necessary notations for sketchupdates as a result of review sessions.

  • Review factory prototypes for accuracy, quality and function. This includes updating tech sketches or detail sketches as needed. Communicate findings to the appropriate persons including, Design/Merchandising, Sourcing and the LO Merchandising team and make necessary notations for sketch updates.

  • Partner withcross-functional team on sales sample evaluation.

  • Assist in proofing seasonal catalogs for sketch and coloraccuracy.

  • Work with manager and team members to ensure that calendardeadlines are met to reach company goals.

  • Participate in team meetings, staff meetings, and othermeetings as needed to assure strong communication on all process and productrelated issues.

Experience:

  • College degree or equivalent with course work in industrial or product design, manufacturing, or related experience.

  • 1 to 3 years work experience in design, product development, or related field OR equivalent work experience in the product industry.

  • Experience with outdoor industry preferred.

Responsibilities: * Researchesworldwide marketplace and interprets consumer and market needs as they relateto product category(s). Includes researching fabric, color, and designconcepts. May attend selected tradeshows for market research to gain thorough understanding of consumer/productrequirements. Travels forconsumer/product research as approved by Design Director. * Proposesdesign ideas based on seasonal assignments with regard to fabrication, styledefinition, functional features, fit requirements and design details. Refinesconcepts as directed by the Design Director. Works within target prices as much as possible and coordinates effortswith Production/Sourcing to assure most effective results. * Providessketches and line art to communicate design concepts, including multiple viewsand detail sketches as necessary. Provides design/concept boards to communicate design and colordirection. * Worksclosely with Materials Research to define new areas to research and source.Identifies fabrics, trims, and garmentcomponents as needed on a seasonal basis. Works as a team member in identifying general color direction on aseasonal basis. Works to ensure all color requirements are met on a timelybasis. * Developsopen lines of communication to all merchandising areas within the company.Interacts closely with Sales and Marketing to understand product/consumer needsand works to initiate communication techniques that can educate retailers andconsumers. * Facilitatesinter/intra-departmental communication and teamwork as needed to assuretimelines are met and to ensure critical merchandising information is availableto Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Graphics, Production/Sourcing,and Sales personnel. Experience: * Requires aBachelor's degree or equivalent specializing in apparel design, fabric arts, orrelated field. Associate's degree with 2-3 years related work experienceacceptable in lieu of bachelor's degree. * Minimumthree years garment design/development experience in the apparel industry.Experience with outdoor industry and apparel category preferred.
