Position Title College Store Clerk Division Accounting(DIV) Department Purchasing Job Description
This position is responsible to assist with the general sales and clerical responsibilities related to the College Store.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist customers with the selection and purchase of merchandise.
Answer customer inquiries.
Operate cash register; and balance cash register receipts daily.
Prepare weekly cyclic inventory reports, inventory three times a year and one year-end inventory.
Maintain the College Store filing system.
Prepare requisitions; and enter orders by computer usage.
Stock shelves.
Set up displays to showcase new merchandise such as spirit wear and other items to encourage additional sales and add-on items.
Opening and closing the store daily.
Prepare and process returns to publishers and vendors; prepare and maintain data records of returns.
Assist with the shipping and receiving of textbooks and other merchandise.
Answer the telephone, take messages, and forward those messages to appropriate personnel.
Mentor work-study students and casual part-time employees as needed.
Source items for sale and process designs provided by Marketing and Communications Department.
Recommend sales/promotions based on inventory.
Help prepare descriptions for items to be sold online.
Upload photos provided by vendor and descriptions to online sales site.

Advise supervisor of lowering stock levels to maintain out-of-stock levels.
Maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices, and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.
Maintain and develop work-related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional and cross-training opportunities.
Attend all required meetings and training.
Perform additional grade-level support duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
High school diploma or GED required
Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
