Job Summary

The Clayton State University College of Health (COH) intern reports to the Dean of the College of Health, Dr. J. Dwayne Hooks, and the Assistant Dean of the School of Nursing, Dr. Elicia S. Collins. The ideal candidate will have experience with all Microsoft Google, and ADOBE platforms and excellent organizational skills.

Under the supervision of the COH Dean and the Assistant Dean for the School of Nursing, the Student Assistant will be responsible for the following primary duties:

  • Perform administrative duties as assigned.

  • Answers all incoming calls using professional telephone etiquette and retrieves voicemail daily.

  • Assist with maintaining College/Schools MOUs and Agreements/Contracts

  • Manage and maintain sensitive information in physical and online files

  • Oversee and manage visual displays throughout building

  • Assist with the processing of applicants admission forms and ensure their proper completion

  • Interact with various stakeholders through phone and email communication and connecting those stakeholder(s) with appropriate College/School resource

  • Follow acceptable business and professional principles in matters of business and personal conduct

  • Supports the overall daily management of calendars, correspondence, office organization

  • Responds timely to inquiries and messages via a returned telephone call or email accordingly

  • Handles the paper mail and routes as appropriate

  • Maintains databases, newsletters, and announcement letters

  • Plays a key role in managing a high volume of RSVP replies and exhibits a pleasant and courteous manner in all communications with guests.

  • Replenishes office supplies including note cards, letterhead, outreach materials etc. to ensure that ample inventory is available

  • Attends activities or assists in hosting events and activities as assigned.

  • Self-driven to utilize on-campus resources

  • Assist in setting up nursing simulation and skills labs for student learning.

  • Maintains any GOOGLE APPLICATIONS, MS OFFICE Suite to include EXCEL, ADOBE Creative Cloud Suite and other applications as appropriate

  • Attends College of Health activities or assists in hosting events and activities as assigned

The position includes working 19.5 hours a week and is flexible to accommodate the student¿s class schedule each semester. There is also an opportunity to work during semester breaks.

The University Internship Program Initiative is part of the Laker Bridge to Completion Program, funded by a Predominantly Black Institution Formula Grant through the U.S. Department of Education.

Mandatory Training:

If selected for the position, the candidate will be required to attend a Professionalism Workshop either in person or via TEAMS on Tuesday March 28th, 2024, from 5: 00pm to 6:00pm.
