Job Summary/Basic Functions
Virginia State University's College of Education is seeking qualified applications for the Fall 2024 & Spring 2025 semesters (Non-Tenure Track Teaching/Research).
Virginia State University (VSU), a public, comprehensive 1890 Land Grant Institution and Historically Black College and University, invites applications for Faculty positions in multiple Academic Degree and Certificate Programs. VSU offers 36 undergraduate degree programs, 17 graduate degree programs, 2 doctoral degree programs and 8 certificate programs in its six Academic Colleges:
College of Agriculture, Reginald F. Lewis College of Business, College of Education, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the College of Natural and Health Sciences.
Job Duties:
Teach up to 18 credit hours (in-person, online via synchronous or asynchronous modalities) per academic semester and provide regular office hours to meet the student needs and promote student success.
This teaching position non-tenure track and is limited to one-year contract but may be considered for one additional year.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in teaching field or a master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field; PhD preferred;
Proficiency to teach courses in the following areas, leadership, health, physical education, recreation, dance and sports management;
Must demonstrate effective and engaging teaching skills;
Must have the ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population;
Proficiency and willingness to adapt new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom.
Additional Considerations:
PhD preferred;
Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment is highly preferred;
Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems (e.g., Banner/Blackboard) with ability to use technology to enhance teaching and educational experience;
Demonstrated ability to measure, assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs.
