Adjunct Faculty in the College of Business are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in their field of expertise, engaging actively with students, and supporting the College's mission of academic excellence.
Examples of Duties
Responsibilities
Course Preparation & Delivery: Design and deliver course content using Canvas LMS, ensuring that all materials and methods are current and effective. Engage students through compelling course delivery and interactive learning methodologies.
Student Assessment: Evaluate student performance, provide timely assessment (grades and/or feedback given within one week of assignment submission), and support students' academic progress. Ensure assessments align with course objectives.
Accreditation & Compliance: Adhere to accreditation requirements and participate in assessment activities to maintain the College's standards for excellence in business education.
Office Hours & Student Support: Offer regular office hours and additional support, advising students academically and professionally. A minimum of two office hours per week for each 3-credit course are required; adjunct faculty should hold one hour of evening office hours (in-person or virtually) for each 3-credit night course taught.
Typical Qualifications
Qualifications
Education & Experience: The candidate must be a proven expert in the given subject matter, with a graduate degree in the relevant field and/or extensive managerial experience. Experience in teaching at the college level is highly valued.
Skills: Excellent communication skills, and effective classroom and online teaching abilities. Prior experience with Canvas (or similar online learning management system) is preferred, but not required.
Additional Requirements
Flexibility: Ability to teach daytime, evening or online courses as needed.
Autonomy & Judgment: High level of independence and discretion in handling confidential information and decision-making in educational settings.
