Job Title College Liaison for Ashe Early College High School Job Description

This is a full-time, 12-month position in the Instructional Support & Student Services Division. The Ashe Early College High School (AECHS) Liaison's primary responsibility is to advise, support, and monitor AECHS students. The Liaison is a college employee and an integral part of the AECHS team. The Liaison collaborates with the AECHS principal and reports directly to the Director of College Access.

Full Time or Part Time Full Time Essential Duties Summary

Core duties will include the following:

1.Develop, support, and work to maintain positive relationships between the Ashe Early College High School (AECHS) and the community college.

2.Serve as the primary information conduit between AECHS and the college.

3.Advise AECHS students and monitor their progress in college courses.

4.Communicate with WCC faculty about AECHS student progress; assist with vital checks.

5.Coordinate scheduling of college courses.

6.Organize registration processes for college courses and assist with college registration for AECHS students.

7.Monitor AECHS student progress towards graduation.

8.Conduct student meetings pertaining to college course success.

9.Complete graduation checkout processes for AECHS students.



  1. Coordinate with disability services to provide accommodations for AECHS students. 11. Coordinate the use of college facilities and resources.

  2. Participate in the student recruitment and selection process. 13. Serve on college and AECHS committees.

  3. Assist with AECHS high school needs, including proctoring exams, attending, and chaperoning events, supervising field trips, and participating in school meetings and professional development.

  4. Teach ACA 115 Success & study Skills and ACA 122 College Transfer Success courses.

  5. Assist with New Student Orientation in the summer.

  6. Assist with other related duties as required/requested by supervisor.


Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in education, higher education, or related area

  • Experience with advising and teaching.

  • Dedication to student success and committed to proactively advocating for students and supporting their success.

  • Understanding of the barriers and challenges to educational success.

  • Ablllty to collaborate across campus.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to multi-task; demonstrated organizational skills.

  • Passion for working with high school students and comfortable being a college employee In a high school setting.

Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands

This position operates in a professional academic office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position regularly requires long hours and minimal weekend work. Travel as appropriate to achieve community college objectives, attend meetings, and implement strategic initiatives.

Essential functions of this position require lifting, manual dexterity, ability to communicate.

Medium work: Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body; involves sitting only occasionally, walking, and standing are required regularly, incumbents may be required to kneel, crouch/squat, crawl, climb, stoop, turn/twist, balance, reach, or handle.

Mental Application: Utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, critical thinking, adaptability, and creative problem-solving skills are important.

Physical

  • Walking up to 4 hours per day

  • Standing/sitting up to 4 hours per day

  • Lifting up to 25 lbs

  • Climbing/stooping frequently

  • Pushing/pulling frequently

  • Stretching/reaching overhead

  • Weekends, evenings, and occasional overnight travel are part of the work schedule for this position.

Salary Grade Salary Hiring Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000 (12 months) based on education and experience in accordance with the college salary plan
