College Level Writing and Research for Writing Adjunct Faculty Instructor - Ft. Wayne area

Position Description:

Instructor must be able to guide adult learners in accomplishing basic and advanced college writing and research

skills using educational technology. Must be able to demonstrate research proficiency and application of

effective writing strategies, as well as direct students in a manner that helps them apply biblical principles

to writing concepts. Must be able to apply APA rules to writing, teach concepts of critical analysis, and provide

in-depth assistance throughout the writing process. Must be prepared to help students build a foundational skill

set that can be adapted to their varying program disciplines.


Preferred: Doctorate in English, or other doctorate with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours (500- level or above)

in courses with the prefix ENG, WRI, LIT, or COMP.

Required: A master's degree with minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in English.

Work Experience: Experience teaching adult learners using an online learning management system is preferred.

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of online educational delivery tools.

  • Demonstrated teaching abilities.

  • Demonstrated higher education experience.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft products.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult learners

Other: Demonstrated navigation ability with online library systems

VIEW JOBS 7/10/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-10-08T00:00 Job Summary The ECE/SEM Lab Technician supports both the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) and the Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Lab, with regular office hours 8-12 pm (ECE) and 1-5 pm (SEM). The duties and responsibilities are: ECE Department: * Provide technical support for all electronic and computer laboratory facilities in the department including operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and inventory control SEM Lab: * Following standardized protocol and procedures, conduct a variety of imaging and analytical jobs to characterize materials and interpret the results * Set up and calibrate the instruments, store, report and distribute the data/results to clients and users; perform routine maintenance of the instruments * Prepare the samples for analyses, such as sputter coating, slicing, grinding and other necessary steps before instrumental analyses * Manage the scheduling and services for users and clients; provide necessary training * Coordinate with the instrument suppliers/manufactures for services and troubleshooting * Oversee and coordinate laboratory operations and facilities; supervise the work of users, clients, and students working in the lab * Order, purchase, and maintain inventories of equipment and supplies needed for testing purposes; establish and maintain the records of instrument times and operating conditions * Maintain safe lab environment * Maintain and update the website of the lab * Perform miscellaneous job-relate duties as assigned Required: * Associate degree and/or equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted in lieu of degree * Three years work experience in analog-digital electronics, computers, SEM and other material characterization instruments * Ability to use and troubleshoot a variety of electronics test equipment * Experience with electrical wiring of PLC controller systems * Good verbal and written communication skills * Computer proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, printed circuit board, electronic soldering, Programmable Logic Controller, etc. * Knowledge of fundamental material sciences and analyses * Ability to set up, calibrate, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the testing equipment and instruments, such as SEM and others in the lab * Ability to prepare and process the testing samples using established protocols * Skill in the use of personal computers and related software applications * Ability to coordinate and maintain laboratory protocol, procedures, equipment, and facilities * Ability to train and supervise the users, clients, faculty and students in laboratory operations Preferred: * Ability to write research publications, reports and proposals is a plus Additional Information: * For highest consideration, please submit a resume, cover letter, and contact information of three professional references. * Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position * A background check will be required for employment in this position * FLSA: Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime) * Retirement Eligibility: Non-Exempt Defined Contribution Plan * Purdue University Fort Wayne seeks to develop and nurture its diversity.
