Under the direction of the Chief of Communication, and in coordination with the communications staff: Provides computer-generated graphic design and visual communications services (e.g., internal/external websites; publications; presentations; materials and displays for video presentations); creates, designs, or maintains internet and intranet websites (incorporates audiovisual presentations/multi-media design/audio files) using Adobe Creative Suite, Share Point or other software; creates, links and uploads interactive PDF documents; ensures adherence with Ohio Department of Insurance (ODI) website standardization policies and procedures and maintains consistent ODI image.

Creates and produces print materials from content provided, including informational brochures, flyers, fact sheets, website graphics, consumer guides, etc. using Adobe Create Suite products, proofreads editorial content and layout; works with State Printing or private vendors (e.g., suggests format, paper, size, binding); contacts State Printing to obtain services (e.g., typesetting, production-level copying, mainframe printing, film processing, half tones, etc.); converts graphic images to correct format and size for project (e.g. .jpg, .bmp, .gif, vector images).

Assists with ODI social media updates and monitoring (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Periscope, Pinterest, etc.).

Assists with planning and or execution of events (e.g. Ohio State Fair, Employee of the Quarter, Green Team Jeans Day, etc.); agency on-boarding; speaker request fulfillment.

Coordinates mailings and print orders. Assists with database management.

Attends meetings as necessary and other duties as assigned.

Must be currently enrolled and attending a college degree program directly related to graphic arts or communications and be at a sophomore standing or higher; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Superb organizational skills; Ability to work well in team-oriented atmosphere; Self-starter, self-motivated and flexible; Intermediate graphic design skills required; Excellent computer skills.

THIS IS A TEMPORARY PART-TIME UNCLASSIFIED POSITION WITH A MAXIMUM OF 24 HOURS A WEEK. This position will assist in statewide communication and public relation efforts. This position may include work inside correctional facilities throughout Ohio and possible collaborations with additional Ohio departments. This position is multifaceted and offers many opportunities to gain additional experience in areas such as: video production, photography, graphic design, website management, branding, government relations, social media production/marketing and more. Sills required: Knowledge of Adobe Premiere Pro, knowledge of communications/public relations, strong written skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with the creation of publications (i.e. newsletters, written articles, etc.), strong visual communication skills.
