Join us in our critical mission to ensure the development and innovation of new wafer fabrication equipment to continue the growth and advancement of integrated technology. As a recent college grad Systems Electrical Engineer at ASM, you will successfully work and contribute to new and ongoing research and development programs as part of a multi-disciplinary project team responsible for driving the systems level architecture of our projects and. You will design complex electrical systems, document requirements and specifications to meet ASM quality and innovation standards, develop the electrical documentation during the design phase and participate in program design reviews.

This group conducts annual assessment activities to assure that the controls systems continue to meet safety, reliability, and end-user requirements. This position is key to ASM's continued innovation and leading-edge technology for improved product performance to meet and exceed industry expectations.

Responsibilities:

  • Design control system using industrial PLC/PLC controller, IOs system, Temperature controller, Motor controller with VFD or Servo driver, Pressure/flow controller, Thermocouple/RTD and other instrumentation sensor to meet the system design requirement

  • Develop detailed understanding of requirements and ensure maturation of requirements for specific systems aspects or components

  • Design electrical system/control schematic, safety interlock system, system interconnect and control/automation component, to meet ASM quality and innovative standards

  • Analyze system and subsystem architecture, electrical and electronic components including analog electronics, digital circuitry, and electromechanical components.

  • Collaborate and work with cross functional teams, including mechanical, software and process engineer team to ensure the control system meet both functional and safety standard requirement

  • Give clear and articulate explanations about the logic and decision-making process used when presenting or discussing in technical meetings

  • Create the electrical documentation during the design phase and ensure it meets ASM standards

  • Provide technical review of procedures, process, and reports

  • Travel to global ASM locations to represent and provide input on behalf of the department / region in various global projects / initiatives

  • Recognize trends and make improvements to prevent future issues

Qualifications:

  • MS degree in Systems Engineering (focus on model-based controls)

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar

  • Strong project/ coursework experience/background in model-based (i.e. LQG / LQR - linear quadratic gaussian/regulator) control systems, APC (advance process controls)

  • Familiar with one of object-oriented programming such as C, C#, C++, Java, Python or Structure text

  • Project/ coursework and/or Internship experience with GIT, SVN or similar revision control software is a plus

  • Project/ coursework and/or Internship experience with PCB design and validation is a plus

  • Has strong analytical ability (university level); able to visualize, conceptualize, and solve problems

  • Has the capability to lead conceptual, innovative design, from starting phase

  • Is independent thinking, able to act as a sparring partner, and a team player

  • Project/coursework experience with circuit simulation using PSPICE, Matlab, Simulink

  • Knowledge of traditional closed-loop PID control.

  • Theory and hands on project experience with PC based system design.

  • Interlocking / ladder logic - hardware and safety.

  • Basic understanding of power and analog circuit such as DC-DC converter, amplifier, rectifier, ADC/DACs
