Candidates should have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.Minimum Qualifications (KSAs)MSD DIVISION OF OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR - LEGAL TEAMMission:To establish a partnership with colleges and universities, exposing as many students as possible to employment opportunities in the Wastewater Industry and help them become experienced professionals in the next generation workforce.Purpose:Co-op will provide assistance to the Stormwater Control Measures Group and the Sewer Back Up Response Group both in the office and off campus. Projects will include inspection of stormwater control measure facilities, light maintenance tasks, QA/QC of contractor's work, reporting on issues on site, creating reports, inspecting stormwater outfalls, and updating Flowfinity records.Co-op will assist with determining causation of hydraulic failures, participate in comprehensive site investigations, reviewing site reports, evaluate design plans for prevention devices, and monitor construction projects. They will also assist with administrative tasks, such as tracking properties, corresponding with customers and contractors, updating reports, and preparing documents.Overview:Under supervision of the project manager and senior engineering technician, the Co-Op will perform assigned work by applying established principals and theories to practical applications. The co-op will be an effective member in a multi-disciplinary team assisting teammates in a professional working environment. They will develop communication skills, learn about stormwater management techniques especially as it relates to green infrastructure and water quality, the causes of sewer backups and possible solutions, follow workflows, work independently, assume responsibility for their actions, and act in an ethical manner. The co-op has the unique opportunity to assist two work groups with work both inside and outside of the office.Expectations:Learn the basics of stormwater control measures and their effect on water quantity and quality while supporting the maintenance activities of the SCM facilities, including inspection, maintenance tasks, contractor QA/QC, budgeting, and invoicing. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability as workflow changes. Learn basic office processes and understand the responsibility of managing a public sector budget. Learn about MSD's sewer system and how hydraulic failures impact customers.
