Job Description

Purpose of Position Summary:

The College and Career Coach will be a part of the High School team and will be involved in carrying out the roles and responsibilities as described below. The College and Career Coach plays a pivotal role in guiding students towards successful post-secondary pathways and facilitating their transition into post secondary employment, enlistment, and enrollment.

This position demands a proactive, self-motivated individual who remains abreast of legislative changes in high school education, particularly the IDOE Redesign High School legislation. Must foster relationships with local businesses and partnerships to create opportunities for work-based learning experiences, aligning with educational requirements using ASCA and ISCA best counseling practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

● Stay Current with IDOE Redesign High School Legislation: Continuously monitor and interpret legislation changes and guidelines set forth by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) regarding high school redesign. Ensure alignment of coaching strategies and initiatives with these standards.

● Stay current on IDOE, DWD, & work-based learning policies.

● Align work-based learning to course standards

● Develop and Maintain Business Partnerships: Proactively engage with local businesses and organizations to establish partnerships aimed at facilitating work-based learning opportunities for students. Collaborate with industry leaders to design and implement programs that meet educational requirements while providing real-world experiences.

● Implement School Counseling Best Practices: Utilize knowledge of school counseling best practices as outlined by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and Indiana School Counselor Association (ISCA) to provide comprehensive support to students. Offer guidance on academic, career, and personal/social development, ensuring holistic student success.

● Collaborate with counselors, district-and building- leaders to create meaningful local pathway requirements that meet the needs of the students in the district and comply with the framework created by the Indiana Department of Education.

● Ensure Graduation Pathway Compliance and Completion: Work closely with students to develop individualized academic and career plans, ensuring alignment with graduation requirements and post-secondary goals. Monitor progress, provide resources, and offer support to ensure timely completion of grade pathways.

● Assist with implementation of business, industry, labor, and post-secondary speakers and tours for each program.

● Collect & disseminate information on educational, employment, scholarship and apprenticeship opportunities to students.

● Develop and implement a data driven student interest effort in order to identify new program areas for development and implementation.

● Administer and interpret career-interest inventories or other required student assessments to students, parents, and staff members as needed.

● Seek grant opportunities to assist and support the efforts of career & technical education goals and objectives.

● Maintain accurate documentation of all student work-based learning and report information to the state via reporting systems.

● Development of College & Career Readiness long-range plan that encompasses K-12 students, staff and community needs.

● Responsible for oversight and expansion of existing College & Career readiness initiatives supported by the school district.

● Track high school entrance and exit data to formulate informed action plans and increase graduation (and post-secondary) success rates, job readiness, soft skills requirements and community partnerships.

● Any other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values.

Requirements:

● Bachelors' Degree with a minimum of three (3) years of career counseling experience

● Competency in computer technology

● Applicants must present valid Indiana Counseling Certification

● Experience working with Career and Technical Education Programs

● Ability to initiate positive partnerships with local community businesses

● Knowledge of ENL, 504, and SPED supports necessary for all students to be successful

● Knowledge of new WBL continuum and requirements
